What have you done to your 2nd gen Tundra today?

I laid down for weather tech front and rear floor mats as the truck came with some ill fitting stuff. The rear spans both sides.

The front causes mental challenges as they placed their bloody logo by the doors edge and it's a shiny clear face that I kid you not, looks like you dropped your cell phone on the mat....

Truck came with two single keys and two separate remotes. I bought flip shell, put the OEM PCBA in it for door function and had the locksmith cut the key and register the ECU to the new chip key.

 

Did a tire rotation, greased LCAs, and greased the propeller shafts. Haven’t touched this truck in about a year as far as maintenance, felt good to work on it again.

 

Uhm, what is the capacity of that jack you have there???

Also, what are you using to grease the rear u-joint on the front shaft? I ended up dropping the joint at the t/fer-case the last couple of times to grease it. Future state is a low profile cup that takes a pointy tip. Question, are these metric Zerk fittings or standard? One can only assume (you know what that means) that it's metric. I just can't find a PN for it.

If so that is either a Pro Eagle or a most likely 3-ton but pro eagle does have a smaller 2-ton

 

The Jack is a Pro Eagle 3 ton. I can’t remember the brand of grease I used because I’ve had it for a few years but it’s NGLI 2 that I bought at o Reilly. I was able to just barely get it on the front rear with some force with the zerk fitting in about the 2 o clock position. I have no idea what size the zerks are haha I bought the grease gun from o Reilly and it fit so it was good enough for me, the zerks are also the same for my LCAs and my dads jet boat pump so I would assume that it’s a pretty common size.

 

It’s a Pro eagle 3 ton like mentioned above but Harbor Freight just came out with one very similar for about half the price

 

Did some updates to the looks! Got some spyder tail lights to match my morimoto headlights and fog lights in terms of style.
And swapped my old 7” pioneer double din with the newer

pioneer DMH-WT8600NEX 10.1” display. Super happy with new radio, contrary to a lot of review I read. I personally think it’s worth the price tag, but that’s just me. I’ll be getting the maestro device so I can get OBDII data displayed on it as well.
Next project on queue is to replace the rough country level kit that came on the truck with Icon Stage 5 suspension kit. That way I can get a moderate 2.5” lift with adjustable compression. Lots of things I’d like to do but sadly I don’t have a money tree in my backyard

I'd been eyeing that head unit, thanks for the pic. The reviews have been kinda keeping me away too. Then there's the wish to upgrade some of my home audio too. Money/time...sigh.

 

To be honest I was holding off for about 3 months. I ended up seeing it on Amazon with a decent discount. Used affirm to pay for it! One of those purchases I could’ve paid for out right but I figured why not just pay over time in case I need funds for something else. Very worth it though if you’re into audio sound/functionality like I am.

Just a much needed wash after a visit to salty Vermont.

 

New wheels and tires, and BMC... also got a milwaukee chainsaw in prep for camping/wheeling

And worked on the bedrack but gotta redo the strut mounts again

 

Finished installing over the weekend, has rebooting issues though anyone else have a kenwood 1037s

 

I have the DMX1057XR and reboots more than I'd like.

 

We finished painting the rims before having the Terra Grapplers installed.

 

A REMINDER....

For those of you sporting the older single peice tilt style Tonneau cover, remember to spray the hinges with a quality water proof lubricant at least annually so it doesn't bind and damage itself.

When I bought my truck, the previous owner neglected to care for it and siezed pulling the rivets through the cover! Don't let this Happen!!

Honda makes a motorcycle chain lubricant that works great for this task leaving a lasting layer of protection. That said, there are plenty of options out there.
I also apply it to the latch mechanism on the trailer and obviously the sport bike chain....

Installed these on all 4 doors. They're lighted and power all windows both up and down. Probably 20 minutes including scrubbing all the panels in the kitchen sink like my dinner plate.

Sorta hate the traction nannies, had to disable that!

 

If the roads are dry,the nannies get killed as I'm buckling up. When I shift out of 'P', it's into 'S', every time

 

Had the new Terra Grappler G2 tires installed on the painted rims..

 

From what I can tell, the previous owner of my truck left it in the Houston, TX sun. I don't think it was ever garaged. Rust had started to come through the base/clear and I decided it was time to repaint the roof. I didn't want to spend a bunch of money on paint as it is only the roof, and it already had dents in it from a few hail storms. So I paid $20 for just basic black and took it down to metal in all the rusty areas. Upol primer was added first and then the basecoat. Probably the most time consuming process, other than the sanding/feathering, was taping this beast off. Had to drive it in sideways just to fit in my 3-bay garage.

I don't have any photos of the clear, but it came out really good for a garage paint job. Now I have a 2-tone truck!

I also took the time to remove my rear bumper plastic and spray some truck bed liner on it to freshen it up.

 

Not all this week, but over the past 10 days or so... While transferring things over to the new motor realized things were worse off than initially thought. Had to order a new oil pan and pickup tube. Then, on Tuesday or Wednesday found out why back in October, it would periodically sound on start-up like I had marbles rolling around in the intake. There were pieces of my piston bouncing around in there. Unfortunately, couldn't manage to get them all out so had to buy a new one from Toyota for $1061.

Engine is back in the truck. Intake should be delivered by or before Monday. I can't wait to have her back.

For all y'all who don't know, I have an 07 4.7. Mud daubers built up nests (unknowingly) in my timing belt cover while I was deployed to South Korea. Came home, 35 miles of driving later, truck ran like ass and wouldn't drive. Misfires on all cylinders. Towed it to the Toyota Stealership in town. They identified the mud dauber nests and that my timing had "jumped 5 teeth on both cams". They replaced the timing belt/pullies for roughly $1300. Said that there was no other damage to the motor though. Roughly 800 miles later my motor quit. (See previous posts).

Basically, my motor ran (mostly great), for another 800+ miles while slowly destroying itself. The last photo posted is of pieces of my piston retrieved from my intake manifold... But after months of waiting, and several thousands of dollars, I almost have my truck back!

 

wouldn't that be on toyota then? If they had checked it thoroughly, they would have found that the fact it jumped time would cause other issues..? The 4.7 is an interference motor, so it jumping time should have immediately sent a red flag
