Just a basic intro. Hello my name is Kevin and I spent a long time on Tacoma World.
I was able to transfer my username from there to here. I don’t know if that’s an option to or if I just got lucky. Either way I am glad to be here.
I recently sold my 1999 Tacoma SR5 4x4 5 speed with manual hubs, transmission and transfer case to a family member.
He got one hell of a truck with OME suspension, And all the goodies.

I am new to Tundras. But I have already been working on the new updates on my new to me 2021 SR5 SX 4x4 Tundra. I will be asking for the new truck updates and upgrades along the way. Transmission thermostat cooler will be my newest mod.

    thanks for listening

    Kevin

What I have done so far.

I bought my 2021 SR5 4x4 SX with an air bag already installed. I don’t have the paperwork in front of me right now but I think it ride right or something like that. I bought this truck because I was in a pickle while towing a small boat with my 1999 Tacoma. With the age of the truck it just didn’t give me the power I needed, and let’s be honest, I wanted a bigger and newer truck.

The new Tundra has the 5.7 which is a beautiful powerful beast and my boat is nothing to pull behind this monster.

I have already added the under seat storage box and locking tailgate to my truck. Soon to be adding the transmission thermostat cooler as well. Amazon provided the center console organizer tray as well as the seat bolt cover things. It just looks nicer having those

    Having fun so far

    Yes
There is a dealer in Miami, (I am in Florida) that sells the thermostat part. Hoses and cooler are up to you as far as I can tell. YouTube is an amazing and expensive thing

The grab handle for drivers A pillar is a great mod. Also relocating the rear diff vent near the taillight is advised if you tow a boat to prevent water intrusion if you submerge the axles on a boat ramp

So my transmission thermostat will ship from sparks parts, currently looking for a hard line, but if I can’t find it I’m OK with using flexible line. Haven’t settled on a transmission cooler yet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Well my 1999 Tacoma went to my brother in law. I made sure I have visitation rights. He is getting a nice Tacoma. It will serve him well.

I did that on my old Tacoma. Rear axle and front differential. I plan on doing this on the Tundra as well. Thanks for the reminder. So much to do so little time.

Nationwide back order unfortunately. Next day off I am going to hit a few salvage yards. I really want to do this

Brevard County born and bred. Salt water fishing is my hobby so I have access to some decent fishing. The new truck will let me get to Southern fishing spots for the snook I’m after.

I found the hard transmission line at a local Toyota dealership, well kind of local, some flexible, transmission lines, and a cooler, yet to be determined, will complete my process. I’ll take some pictures during the install, showing the before and after’s.

Got my transmission thermostat from Sparks Parts today. The hard lines will be here probably mid week. I am still debating on which aftermarket cooler to purchase. Heading to Orileys tomorrow to see what they have in stock. I’ll be just at $500 with the parts and additional transmission fluid from the dealer. Of course I’m doing the labor myself.

Just got the paperwork out. I have the LoadLifter ultimate air springs. Currently running at 6 psi. I am going to get a bicycle pump to keep in the truck because every small adjustment is major on the airbags.

Well I bought the wrong cooler. It’s way too big for my application. I don’t want my transmission temperature to be too low. So the second transmission cooler should be here tomorrow and the transmission lines should be here as well I’m off on Monday and Tuesday and I hope to get the install done then. My boat only weighs about 1400 pounds and another thousand for the trailer so I went with a smaller cooler. I’ll take some pictures
