Oh and speaking of kids ...

Oldest has been complaining about her foot after I noticed a wound on it back in January. She supposedly stabbed it on a pencil, a pushpin, "something". I insisted we go to the doc to get x-rays because it kept puddling blood (bruising around the ankle bone). She insisted it wasn't necessary, continued running the weekly mile at school, playing sportsball, all that jazz.

Well, I knew we'd be hiking a lot soon, spring around the corner, and made her go in today. Docs couldn't explain what the x-rays showed, so sent her in for more. Still no idea what it is, going in again tomorrow to another spot for ultrasound. Maybe the end of the pushpin lodged in her foot? Maybe the jab was a coincidence, and it's a shard of bone from sportsball stuff? Doc doesn't want to operate until she has a better clue of what the hell it is. It's pretty deep, but can't feel it when pushing around. Right by her ATFL.

If I have all the tools close, I can usually do the, no that one, no the other one, no not that one. Hahah and will sooner or later get it right, maybe I need to involve math/numbers, metrics should make it easier.
I like them helping but they love being under the truck with me, I’d rather only my face get smashed if something were to let loose while I was under there. But that’s also SORTA taught them to tuck their heads when they exit the underside of the truck, I usually give a gentle reminder, sometimes it’s too late

Another option is mount the board on standoff posts (or any type of spacers) and run everything behind, then loom it all together for a clean exit
If you're running SusMaxx links, you may want to verify the nuts are tight. Mine loosened up on their own just enough to start popping. Factory links never popped.

Oh, damn. Genius. I love that idea. I could steal some pipe nipples from workm or a brass union since those are machined and almost guaranteed to be the same size.

    I'll need longer screws...

I also thought about just moving the chargers to the lower right hand corner too.

Well. If you move the charger down, I guess you'll hafta consider moving that line of batteries over to where the charger is now....

@Shifty that is definitely a small linear radiopaque foreign body on the radiograph. Hope Ortho figures it out. Please follow up what it was.

Doc-ordered sonogram in 3 hours. hoping that produces answers. Doubt they'd want to MRI or antyhing, would hurt like hell if it's metal :D

Either way, surgery is on the calendar for 2 weeks from now to pull it out. I'm as curious as anyone. It looks so uniform in width, I can't imagine it's a bone shard.

Had the opportunity to drive a 3rd gen as a rental here in Omaha. Passed on it since it was 2wd and grabbed a Titan XD Platinum 4wd. Was a pain in the ass to park in the garages but when it was time for snow action it was a beast.

Sometimes the human race around here getson my nerves, but we are so lucky to have such a musically orientated population with their electric violins. I just needed coffee creamer but their music brought my shopping experience to a new level.

NGL, some sweet features on this Titan. The bed boxes, the remote start that works, the 4wd that goes in and out of 4hi without a clunk or fuss. Smooth transmission. 1690# of payload on the door jamb sticker.

Doesn't seem like it. It's about 1cm long and 1-2mm thick. Looks almost like it could be a shard slightly taller than it is wide? Ultrasound gave a few shape details, but not much better of than we were before.

She twisted this ankle hard a couple years back and was in a boot. This could be a bone fragment from that the docs missed back then, just working its way out over the last couple years, and maybe the sportsball practice caused it to slam into her ATFL or something. Or maybe she didn't realize it, and when whatever stabbed her in the foot (she thinks it was a pushpin) snapped off? But it's definitely about 1/4 deep under the skin, so it's not clear how it could've come from outside.

Need to tell the doc to go back and re-review the films from back then to see if there's anything obvious showing then.

Taking suggestions for wheels on the new box. I will not get polyurethane wheels, nor plastic wheels. Poly wheels pick up too much dirt, and squeak. Plastic wheels are WAY too loud to slip through ricky incognito. Bolt pattern doesn't mater because of the frame I have in mind. Gonna have 1/2" thick wheel plate adapters with common wheel bolt patterns in it.

Already got my dimensions needed to build out a frame.
    20230217_014351.jpg
and I've only got this picture of the box for now. It's not coming into work until the frame is done.

Quick redneck maths via word problem, and then numbers below.
Current box is 41.75" tall at the work surface from the ground. I like this height. Could get away with a little taller, not shorter.
New box from top to bottom is 31.125"

There is a rolled lip where the edge of the box meets, and forms the structure on both boxes. The old one doesn't matter. The new one is right at 15mm or 5/8" (.625") To get true height, you have subtract the new box lip from the total height of the old box to find the distance I need to make up to at least reach the current, decent height of the red box.

31.125" (New box total including lip)
    .625" (New box lip height)
    -_____________________________
30.5" New box true height that I can actually use for proper fab.

So, with that known value... I can subtract that from the total height of my old box.

    41.75" (Old box)
    30.5" (New box)
    -_____________
11.25" is the distance I need to make up via a combination of wheels, tube steel, and plates. Damn I need to make up almost a whole ass foot... May as well add some sheet steel, and build a shelf out of the shit. That's a LOT of unused space if I dont' do that.

I believe 8 inches of lift. Maybe 9. I'd have to measure it again.
