Dan H is taking care of it for me. Very pleased so far. It seems like he has a decent amount of trucks tuned under his belt, and I was not going to wait for DAP any longer.

The blower whine is definitely vastly different with the new intake. Took the truck for a ride with my wife and got on it to get through a yellow light. Our necks snapped to look at each other after hearing the sound difference. Much higher pitched. I wonder if that’s part of the reason the Maggie is generally perceived as louder than the Harrop.

Gotcha. Awesome. I’m looking forward to getting mine installed. And you’re already hitting 5 volts with the 80mm and the Mag box?

It literally just hits 5.0 just as it hits 6k rpm. I can watch it progressively climb to 5 and it doesn’t hit it until redline. That means there is no ill effects for tuning. Dan said hitting 5v in that scenario doesn’t matter at all. If you don’t install honeycomb in the intake tube like me you probably will have a lower voltage across the rev range also.

If you’re doing the maggie intake I’d do the SABM as well for sure.

The SABM on our application definitely makes a difference

I’ve also noticed whistling now mainly in low rpm high load scenarios. Is that what others also experience with this airbox? Wondering if it’s from the K&N filter, the Honeycomb, or just the general increased flow into the box w/ the SABM.

I hear it through the PS intake with the cutout. Thinking it's the throttle body?

Not sure! I have an AFE filter coming so it will be interesting to see if it persists with that.
I’ve read that thread before as well, only thing is that screen has since been eliminated with the supercharger being in place of the intake manifold. Unless there is something relative to my situation deeper into the thread I didn’t read. Although I could see the similarities with having the honeycomb installed, but the stock 3.5” airbox with the honeycomb did not whistle.

Good point, I thought the Magnuson reused the stock gasket, but reviewed the instructions and it gets replaced for both SCs.

I had the whistle before I changed out the stock gasket when naturally asperated, and no whistle since the PS intake on the Harrop.

Did you remove the carbon portion on the lid? Or the mesh part by the TB? Mine slightly whistles at times but not often.

I did remove the carbon filter. There is no mesh by the TB.

When you say whistle does the sound come from the engine, or inside the cabin? It's really weird, but after I installed the Stillen intake, I get a sort of alternator whine/whistle you might hear if you had a bad ground on an aftermarket audio setup. But it sounds like it comes from the center dash area. Only when accelerating, and seldom

Definite whistle from the intake itself. Sounds like a ball bearing turbo whistle on a 6.0 powerstroke, but without all of the broken stuff.

TVS1900 vs TVS2300 vs Whipple 2.9 vs TVS2650 all running 14ish PSI on the same car, same dyno. Doesn’t much matter for our trucks as they can all break the engine, but cool to see them side by side.

My gut feeling is that's sound is coming from the SAIS filters. But seems unlikely since it wasn't touched. When I did the uni-mod filter change on the SAIS in the Tacoma, sound changed dramatically. Sounded exactly like a turbo, especially when turning engine off. I may mess with doing that on the Tundra, but the filters are much harder to get to, being in the passenger side behind the inner fender. On the Taco its on top of the engine, passenger side.

Just need two of these. Remove the hard plastic cover, then remove the foam block filter inside. Then add new filter

    https://www.amazon.com/Uni-Filter-UP-107-Clamp-Breather/dp/B003CJOTSA

There's a relocation kit that uses the same Uni-mod filters. But expensive! I'm just gonna order the filters and replace the stock foam filters that tend to break down over time

    https://sdhqoffroad.com/products/07...uilt-secondary-air-pump-intake-relocation-kit

Here's a video on the Tacoma, but the filter housing I believe is the same on the Tundra, just harder location to get to. No real performance improvement that you'll notice. BUT the turbo sound it makes is awesome!

I may be wrong, but I thought the SAIS pumps only run at cold start to heat up the cats, and for a quick stint at shutdown to clear out any built up condensation. Not sure?

May be different on the Tacoma. The intercooler pump also runs occasionally when the truck is turned off with that platform

Sais can be fully disabled with a tune right? Always wanted to rip all of that out of put in block off plates. Wouldn’t save much weight but would make the engine bay cleaner.

Ya, but it's a huge pia tbh. I did it to the taco and not really sure how much it helped. Added it back before reading in. The pumps on the Tundra are located dead center rear behind the intake maifold

You have to buy the bypass hardware and sensors as well if you want to remove the stock hardware completely.

At least on the Tacoma, you get away with only using the blockoff plates on the header side, and fully remove the rest of the hardware. HPTuners can turn off the PID's that monitor it. And then a retune would likely be needed. If you don't have HPTuners, you can buy the Hewitt hardware thingy that plugs in and mimics the signals.

Probably the same for the Tundra, considering it was PS that told me it couldn't be done without the hardware, I ended up buying the hardware and sensors along with headers that covered the ports on the head.

Well, that may be true from their standpoint. I think by law?? Tuner shops can't or won't touch emissions equipment anymore. OTT specifically states in their contract they won't do it. The tuner I used that did mine, did so BEFORE he went to work for a tuning shop and was just doing private tunes.

Oh, they had no problems disabling every frickin OBD2 code for the emissions, they just didn't think the hardware could be removed outright without the sensors. They said I can keep the stock valves plugged in as long as they still work, but the computer needs the reference back, so the sensors were necessary if I wanted to remove the pumps, valves and associated tubing.

My tune just has all the SAIS DTC’s disabled but all of the equipment is still functional and in place. I just wouldn’t know if it stopped working properly. I think most of the failures for the SAIS stemmed from the condensation buildup and therefore corrosion which Toyota later addressed in the programming to run them briefly at shutdown. I don’t think it’s as common of a failure after that update.
