Especially in the low gears at low speeds its so jerky and feels like the torque converter is just sloshing around lol. At higher speeds the downshifts make it slip a lot and rpms increase momentarily it just feels wrong or something is gonna give out soon

Sounds like the same squirrel headed engineer programmed yours and my old 2017 Tacoma TRD off-road 4x4.

Lmao I just can't understand how these trucks make it thru qc or something. Toyota needs to fix these transmissions or someone will have a bad day but when this thing actually works my god it's beautiful or just give us full control over which gear we can lock into like zf transmissions in bmws and stuff. One of the biggest things these engineers overlooked is if I wanna be in 10th gear and floor it the truck should let me without downshifting.

I came from a 2006 Tundra (that I bought new in 2006) with the computer controlled 5-speed tranny to my 2018 Tundra (that I bought new in 2018) with the new 6-speed. When I had the 2006, it was the best transmission I ever owned. That is until I got the 2018. Full disclosure: I rarely tow and even when I do it is an all aluminum 12' stock trailer lightly loaded. I also rarely haul heavy loads in the bed. 2WD.

Absolutely love the 6-speed, to me they really did this right.
