    Thank you!
I remember that. It's why I didn't attempt to replace my hot water heater. Scary stuff. After research though, I figured this was a good starter project. If it didn't work (and didn't explode when I turned it on after), I could turn the gas back off and live another day.

Oh crap, I thought you were talking about solar power sell back from homeowners, not from power generation companies.

Now that I understand exactly what you are talking about...100% agree. Wind and solar are cheap, but you have to back that generation up with fossil fuels...at real time pricing since grid operators cannot use emergency response for renewables that can disappear very quickly (wind stops or is too strong, cloudy or overcast days for solar). That's what makes it expensive (if you wanted to know).

That's why I didn't even attempt to finish the hole I had to cut in my ceiling last month. The HVAC grill I ordered finally arrived so I basically built a sneaky access panel in case I ever need in there again.

I just need to find a piece of insulation to lay on the backside and keep cold air from blowing in.

I am referring to the power company, which is a co-op, having to purchase electricity from homeowners with solar panels at a higher rate than they normally purchase electricity from wholesale. The language in the letter said they are both “mandated” to purchase from homeowners, and “mandated” to pay a higher rate. So if you put solar panels are your house and your electricity bill goes down, hooray for you. It’s being subsidized by the rest of the homeowners on the grid who have to buy your solar for more than the normal rate.

Purchase price of the truck + purchase price of the suspension + labour to install, including welding, unless you know how.

I was looking at a truck and was wondering what the parts/build would cost. Ish. I understand that it has some play, but ballpark?

It's not like that. Hulk was built in 2019 before the pandemic led to supply chain issues and increased demand for outdoor adventure gear of all types. You could check Hulk's build thread for a list of components (we used MCM's cantilever so I could keep the bed intact), then check prices for those components to compile a realistic ballpark. If you do that, please don't bump that thread-- I'll be irritated about the same few guys... who've made zero progress on their own trucks... hassling me to update it o_O, and I'll move it back to the bottom of my priorities list.

The $12k in parts that built my ballpark might cost $20k now. Plus thousands in labour for anything you cannot do yourself.

There’s a guy down the street from me that also has ‘toomanycaritis’. He literally started stacking them. He built a big garage with full drive-on lifts that he parks his ‘nicer stuff’ on, then the lifts go up and he parks his other ‘nicer stuff’ underneath them. Saw his garage doors open the other day and thought of you:crazy::boink::rofl:

Considering they already made the website unavailable, I'm going to assume it's a scam. It's still indexed/cached in Google Search so you can see the pictures and stuff. Not only that, but the site is also flagged as almost certainly being a scam. The pics they had listed look like they're taken from multiple diff't places, including one in a Home Depot.

I dunno how I'd manage to live w/o a gas range, honestly. I could manage with LP if I had to. It's the only thing I hate cooking on, glass top, electric, and/or induction stoves. It's just not the same experience, and I find it far more difficult to control than a straight-up flame. I prefer electric for the oven, gas range. (we have a dual-fuel range now, gas top, electric bottom).

I had this argument with my uncle in TX recently. Not only do you not want to make anything into a monopoly-able resource which allows for unchecked utility prices, but ... we also need hybrid redundancy at the source. Like using fossil fuels for heat to keep solar farms warm, so they don't ice over or freeze up. Single sources are a choke/fail/risk point. It's true with everything from genetics to technology.

Simple sheet of plastic would stop the draft. Don't overthink it.

It's something you may want to do if you've got a ridge vent at the roof peak. You want to be pulling outside air from the outer edge of the house, across the underside of your roof boards to cool them off, promote longevity. If you have this gaping hole, and you're instead sucking all the air from this spot, it's surely lessening the effectiveness of other cooling in places. Like water, air will always (up)take the path of least resistance.

Ain't that a load of crap? CO was trying to do some stuff like that with our local utility company. They made it optional on the bill.

Yup. Or you might find a private party truck with flaking clear coat but reliable timing belt maintenance; spend a couple of years learning to weld; establish real world friendships with forum buddies that live near you and find the lowest cost source of their favourite beer... and you could maybe make it happen for just under $25k.

I know, right!? I love that color and wish it would come back. Would have got it on my 2019 Tundra, or on my 2023 Tacoma if it were an option. One of the best they've ever done IMO.
