It seems our old dingy fart fan has died. Anything I need to look out for when buying a replacement? I'm not too upset as I was tired of looking at this one.

And yes, I know the ceiling texture is ugly.

You want to get one that is a "remodel" fan. Basically it allows you to install it from the bottom. You'll also want to measure the housing size to get one that fits. That looks square though so I think you are in good shape.

I found a couple of Panasonics last month at Lowes in their clearance section for next to nothing - they were pretty easy to install once I figured out what I was doing.

You also want to pay attention to how many CFM's you want (based on the size of the bathroom and if it has a shower/bath/etc) in it and how loud you want it. They make some now that you won't even hear them when they are on. I prefer not to have people snickering about my fart sounds when I come out of the bathroom so I like something that has a little background noise.

Not actually a home improvement per se but I did put away all my duck and goose hunting decoys and then cleaned the garage to put them away. I clean that dam garage more times than I care to count.

    Looks damn good.
What kind of vinyl did you use, and what sort of nosings? How did you attach it? I need to redo my stairs and am back and forth on doing them in solid wood or some alternative (no carpet…never again).

Bathroom fans are one place where something that sounds close to a jet engine is much preferred over “whisper quiet”

Thanks! The vinyl was Lowe's P/N 2145162 by Shaw floors. The nosing is the same material formed with a heat gun and bent using a jig. They're attached to the treads with Taylor Dynamic adhesive.

The kids school called in a tizzy today, said they had a water leak in the main building, I told them where the shut offs were and they claimed it slowed/stopped. But this was right at noonish and we just got a freak snow storm that laid 2” of snow. I couldn’t get from them where exactly the leak was, but I had a feeling the roof drain had made a ice dam or something.
Went and turned all the water back on, the meter didn’t budge! Sweet! So I got out the ladder and went on the roof. Roof drains are right above where the water was coming from……

When we bought the house I noticed the large crack in the broken tile porch and knew it needed to be taken care of. But for whatever reason in my mind I didn't put it on the seller, said we'll take care of it. I didn't know what it would involve. I should have.
I didn't get a photo of the crack from the top, got one under.

    Q2rj8UH9QTx7Q4szlCcTmWvpKdPvkzeS5D_KVeWz_b5e4aeb87f3d1b7fb3c25b9c5d13defee06b1610.jpg

You can see the big shadow of where the slab closer to ya is lower than what's in front.
    QkTqXXvnBP-TzRatdHMv9kDVTpM5COb9cQwMRb18_be590745de89a27cbf64693df6e96c5649ff4a63.jpg

You can see some of the damage here, there's a crack on the old section from just behind the back post all the way across to the right.

So after about a year of talking to various contractors we finally got one who gave us a quote for the slab, found another crew who would do the tile so game on.

    M0i6id3MDvaKLEmf_hDYlCw38FgzgFdUc_AhMIE5_0a11cec216e6577a7b30f5694f22565b7d0b4c85.jpg

Glad they young...This slab was poured about 1938, how we know, they used newspaper to keep concrete from seeping through the wooden slats they used for a platform. It would appear they recovered the wood because there was no trace of any under the house.

    cLr4xh1mAMx_sTwLy1Bl7nnsXWbsj5Wl1AHEv97k_7c56e920e9201fef6587114da5430b18936fbcbb.jpg

Cleaned up good and they built new block wall around the old brick to support the steal sheets for the new platform.

I kept bugging them to make sure they had a falling sloop so water didn't pool up at the house. Looked right to me.

    RJPK82okPZQKkVJKry3rCakO4YnCU86GCK4jTaC4_3b90c6e12a2431f5b728e3146e78b18ca5c74045.jpg

then the tile guys showed up.

When they busted up the old concrete they found all sorts of metal farm machine parts in the concrete being used in leu of rebar. A gear to something, parts of a plow, framing, pipes. Those ol' farmers didn't waste a thing, I saved some of the interesting things.

We are really pleased with the outcome, not a 100% match but the tile on the left was laid down in the 50s so what'da gonna do?

I told you, married to an artist...

She makes her own Tye-dye T-shirts when the "mood" approaches. :p always has , even when she was coaching.

Whole team would be at our house making one hell of a ruckus but getting it done....

Fancier schools warm-ups were $$$ but Con's girls proudly wore

what THEY MADE... Life's lessons :D:D

We both coached our kids from age 7 ,the "Real Futbol"... soccer until middle school ...We're both licensed

And then she started coaching high school teams; was Freshman girls coach a couple years and then Varsity for 10+...

Not sure what other districts have for "Coaching rules" but during the "Off-season" she couldn't coach them BUT guess who could..:rolleyes:

Word on the street is that they are made by Haier. I'm looking at a french door unit to replace my side by side samsung, which will then be the new garage fridge.

Well, it was wet but…. Our upper deck in back is cedar along with a pressure treated wood stairs, which I coated with a semitransparent stain that gives it a sheen of sorts. The shed ramp (my design) is pressure treated wood (2x4s) so I used the same stain as I had left overs and I like it. My other previous house shed I painted the ramp but I like this. My other home’s shed ramp was also pressure treated wood and lasted over 25 years. See photo for details.
