I was just over in another thread praising Toyota for resale and build quality. But to be fair I have to complain again about some of their cheesy omissions. First was the lack of seat memory function even though I have the fancier 8-way softex seats, Advanced Off-road tech and all that. The latest issue I have discovered is lack of retained accessory power, even though I have the aforementioned AOR tech package and "premium audio" and a bunch of other options. I haven't had a vehicle without RAP for 30 years. This is not even remotely an option that I would go looking for since I would have just assumed it was standard. I am guessing that upper trims have this? So one would have to buy an upper trim to get a couple of relays and a timer board? LOL.

This is just a heads up for buyers who like me find that the SR5 trim can be pretty well optioned but will still apparently lack a couple of minor conveniences that many of us have become accustomed to.

    Function before sparkle.
An example of RAP is the ability to close your windows after the drivers key is turned off. I don’t have a 2023, but Toyota usually disables the function as soon as a door is opened.

Exactly. It also lets you shut the engine off and keep listening to the radio until you open the door to exit. Without RAP the radio shuts down and you have to manually go back into ACC mode. So if you pull into the driveway with something that you want to hear playing, let it idle until you are done.

Also, to be fair, being winter I have not tried to roll a window up after killing the engine. I'll try that later today.

I don’t think I’ve had a car in the last ten years that has had this. Three Toyotas and two BMWs. Anything older I cannot speak to as I don’t remember.

The upper trims do not have this either as I believe my windows perform the same on my 1794.

This is a design philosophy decision from a battery preservation and operations / safety perspective as it cost nothing to implement the opposite.

Exactly. I was just looking at other Toyota RAP discussions and it seems this is a Toyota design "philosophy" as Jam noted. Another head scratcher, but oh, well.

My 22 SR5 I can roll down windows for a period after turn it off. Have not tried radio. I don't really care about that

I believe you can shift the truck to N and then turn the truck off and still listen to the radio? At least my wife's 2021 Highlander is that way. Try it?? Just remember to put it back in park when you exit lol. I think the vehicle will remind you tho

Have you tried turning the radio back on again after the engine is shut off, but the door is still closed?

Put it in neutral when you shut it off instead of park. No toyota keeps power when shut down in park. It's not on higher trims. This is known and you should have done more research instead of assuming things you like are standard. As for seat memory, you bought an SR5. That's a step above base, and seat memory is and always has been a luxury trim feature. You should have bought a higher trim or a different brand.

this goes way back to even my 2014 4runner limited with PTS.

but then again this inherent to all toyota push to start vehicles.

and PT barnum strikes again on someone, guess someone should have researched a tad more :)
