    28k in Sept of 15.
Yesterday I hit 333333. Been acting a little weird. But now my slap stick won't show up and in reverse it slipped yesterday.. and coming out of drive to neutral is very stiff. Like I turned offthr truck a few times to shift out.. question is. Do filter and 2/4 quarts of new mixed in with old. Or just filter for a few months then slowly swapp some quarts

Leave filter alone, some of the pan bolts will likely break if you mess with it and it doesn't need changed either. Drain and fill, drive a few hundred miles drain and fill again. Maybe somebody else can chime in who knows more facts, but I think I read somewhere that these computers actually keep track of the oil age and adjust transmission function accordingly. Not sure if it is true or not, but that could be an issue if it's true. At that point, the software might need to be notified of the change in lubricity properties.

I just bought a 2013 with 145000 miles. I have no idea if the trans fluid has ever been changed. Do I dare change it?

I've seen you write about the breaking pan bolts before, why the fear? I've likely dropped 500 pans and the number of broken bolts would likely be under 10.

The advantage of dropping the pan is getting more fluid out, dropping the filter gets more fluid out. Starting the engine for 3 seconds flings another quart or more out (pan on).

Yes, the engine and trans do learn and its not reset by pulling power. That only resets fuel trims and what not. Techstream has a utility to reset it so it has a fresh learning curve. Example is a vehicle that never goes over 2500 RPM will shift a lot softer than one that's been shifting at WOT every now and then.

OP - it can't hurt to drop the pan and freshen it up. I would check the fluid level first as it could explain the behavior. That said, once they slip and with that many miles, it may be done.

No fear, just no need to complicate the matter.

So good news and bad news. For the one that said not to drop the pan the bolts will snap. No sir,,, I've taken damn good care of this truck. Changed oil every 8k. One time I did like 16. But always with Mobil 1 ow20. And some oil honey and Murphy oil every now and then. My oil is at 335817 and comes out tan .. but r light didn't work slap stick didn't work. I drop the pan. Cleaned it out bvb very well with dawn. All I had.. cleaned magnets, checked bolts in trans and got a crumb of brake cleaner from neighbor and sprayed the whole bottom side lighty but heavy. Not shooting into any holes or spots.. didn't even put the new gasket cause my original one looked fine and no pitting or cracking, also oan bolts were damn near finger loose on rear side. Slight build up on the side oan. Wshed and sanded truck and rubber gasket, lubed it with trans oil. Back installed and onky had 2 +/2 quarts. Also idk how low I was or if I was. I put what I had back in drive it just fine.

Now it's been 1 week or 2 and slap stuck came back r light is back and reverse lights. Can do a small burn out. Very lightly on pedal. Still no reverse yet. But today right now as im tyoing it kinda moves in reverse. Kn a very lucky guy. Bought Sept of 15 with 28k 4.6. Now 335 not one thing wrong. Except my balls upper and lower sway bar tie rod is wiggling ahit 1/2 .. on to that now. Will be my 2nd set I've installed. Original everything but purchased a 370 amp alternator from js alternators for 450 on sale registered 750. But every thing original and no secondary air intake bukkshit either.. will post again if reverse licks in

You gotta check the transmission fluid level the right way...your problem could be as simple is incorrect fluid level.

Your best bet to save the tranny is several drain-and-fills, with a few days/weeks driving in-between.

Add some red LubeGuard, it can help with slipping.

Otherwise may be time to find a low-mile replacement tranny, eh?

    Good luck with it,

Would you not change the engine oil? Yes, change it.

I think it depends on where you live. I dropped the pan on mine and snapped a bolt and the truck only had 33k on it. I live in the north east where they salt though. Im going to hazard to guess by the OPs vernacular that hes in the south where theres no road salt which would explain no issues dropping the pan with 300k.

We bought an 08 sequoia with 194k miles

5.7 Engine and transmission same as tundra

i changed the fluid using the fluid exchange through the cooler lines and used Valvoline MaxLife ATF

Had 264,000 miles when we traded it in no issues
