I always will finish a welding project and then a few days later wonder how in the hell I was able to sunburn only my inner right arm enough to peel.

Then it kicks in, and I'm oh, yeah, arc burn.

Maybe next time I'll think ahead and put some sunscreen on before I weld. I guess I could wear a long sleeve shirt, but then that means I'd have to go buy one.

My long sleeve “work” shirts would be fun once a spark hits them. I imagine some kind of scene from Fire Marshal Bill

Little project I wrapped up today. We have to dip tube bundle heat exchanger in this chemical every summer, so I welded some stuff up to hold a beam that a trolly and winch ride on to help us dip and drip. My vertical passes sucked ass, but I did ok on everything else, it will hold, so that all that matters

At first I was thinking of industrial size in used to seeing and was thoroughly and extremely impressed.
    Now I'm just thoroughly impressed.

    Industrial sized heat exchangers?
Yeah these aren’t to yuge, but big enough to not want to lift. The chemical we use is crazy, it’s food safe, but what it does to calcium and scale is insane and scary to watch!
My first year we didn’t have spares so we had to shut down steam and water for a few hours while we drained it, pulled it, take to the dip tanks and then come back and install. Now we bring a clean one and swap it out in a hour(not to mention all the sediment we stir up in the stowage tanks and then the building pisses brown water for a day hahah)

So are these heat exchangers being used to heat water? Not sure what application this is used on for the residential side

Yeah Domestic hot water, and most of the water is from a well, so lots of sediment

we also have separate heat exchangers for building heating water, closed loop so hopefully not as bad(we haven’t done those since I’ve been there….)

Gotcha. I know heat exchangers are typically pretty efficient and all....which is why they're great in an industrial application.
I bet it running well water through it can be a mess tho. My parents had a shallow well on their property growing up. Our white shirts were yellow within about 3-5 washes. Smelled good and clean. Just stained with hard water. Drank that straight from a water hose and it's still some of the best water I've had:D
