Guess I’ll need to send that video to Crutchfield and see what they say. Sucks because this unit is only 6 months old.

I been wanting to upgrade my stock head unit as well but I think I'm going to wait a little because These Pioneer 8600's are pretty much 2.5 years old now. Pioneer hasn't release a new unit since covid. Kind of crazy to spend $1500 on a unit that's 2.5 years old. I'm sure they are in the works to release a new one sooner than later..... Hopefully!

    Loving this thread!

I'm installing the 7600NEX. With all the wires connected to the MaestroRR and the stereo, I'm still left with these 3 connectors. The white connector comes down from the top left of the stereo opening in the dash and runs left towards the drivers side and has foam wrapped around the cable. The other 2 come out of the vehicles wiring harness. Am I missing something or are those just not used?

So your image has 2 types of plugs: one squarish, and 2 round.

I believe that the 2 round ones would be the satellite wires for the factory equipment- the factory stereo has the factory satellite receiver strapped to the bottom. I think the white one plugged into the stereo and the black one plugged into the sat receiver..
    88850922-6B96-4AAF-85AF-1691DB33B891.jpg

The squarish one is the USB from the dash to the stereo. You can buy an adapter and it will allow the usb socket on your dash to be used for charging, I don’t think it will provide signal to the new HU.

You can see these adapters on page 2 of this thread I think. I’d get the USB adapter, but unless you use the Sat, you can skip it.

I have the USB adapter on mine. It allows media to work the same as OEM.

Not for nav, but for XM satellite radio.

Got her wired up and installed. Did a quick test run on the system, didn't see anything out of the ordinary thank God! I wound up using the dash kit, without any modifications, and for me it sits in there just fine. Only thing I need to go back in for is to install the adapter cable for the factory USB port.

One other question I have though is where did y'all run the USB cable provided with this stereo? Right now it's just dangling out from under the dash, begging me to install it permanently somewhere.

    Thanks again for the help!

If I remember correctly the USB adapter plugs into it and it stays behind the dash.

Look at posts 101 and 108.

the USB cord that you are trying to use should be sidelined- don’t use it. Instead, use the USB adapter from Maestro, and then get any brand of USB to mini USB adapter, and plug that into the mini USB socket on the back of the Pioneer. This allows you to use the factory dash USB.

You can see the Maestro adapter in post 24. Again, check 101 and 108 of this thread to see how to fully adapt the USB to the pioneer.

Okay, after doing some tests to make sure everything works (haven't tried the PIDs yet), I found that I can view my backup camera, but going into reverse does not trigger the camera, I have to manually turn it on.

I have the backup camera RCA (yellow) plugged into the backup camera RCA (Brown). I connected the 24 pin adapter to the 8 pin connector on the HHR-TO2 T-harness.

Double check the Meastro wiring diagram. The purple wire comes to mind for the reverse trigger.

I have 2020 with factory JBL, just bought Pioneer 8600 and wondering if anyone can help with a silly question. Do you need to install the GPS antenna that comes with the unit? or is there a way to use factory GPS ?

Where did you guys mount the GPS antenna that came with the HU?

I just use Waze, so I did not install the antenna.

Recently I did have a long drive that took me out of range of cell service and the drops were bothersome. I may install that antenna and try the Pioneer nav. What do people think of it so far?

Trans cooler. Pioneer 8600. TRD Pro suspension.
To my knowledge the 8600 does not have built in nav. The pioneer antenna helps keep signal and also runs the clock/date outside of carplay. Maybe a few other small features that I don't know about.

I have the adapter to use the factory gps antenna. Works great with exception of the pioneer clock features.

That’s where I put mine. It’s also a good spot for the XM antenna.

    Nothing.... yet.
Same here. I have my maestro sitting there along side the GPS antenna. Easy access if I ever need to reflash/update the device, and it also helps route cables further away from the small space behind the deck.

So still having reverse camera issues on my 2019 CM...

I can see the camera by manually turning it on, but I'm still unable to figure out the reverse trigger. I called Crutchfield and was able to find the purple/white wire and, I have tested it all the way to the MaestroRR and it never gets over .09v to .10v He had me look in the passenger side kick panel for a white 10 pin plug, with a solid blue wire. I found white plugs, with blue wires, but none with ten pins. Does anyone have a picture of the kick panel wire he's wanting me to find? Or, is there an option of an add a fuse from a fuse panel to splice into the purple/white wire?

I'm using the iDatalink HRN-RR-T02 factory integration adapter, therefore there are no wires I had to splice, all the wires are in the connectors and no loose wires, plug and play, or so they say...

Thanks guys, in order to have video in motion on 8600 - do you need to disconnect the parking brake wire in idatalink harness? i believe its a teal color wire if using ACC-HU-PI01 Maestro Harness to Radio. Adapter?

Watch this video once you get your bypass tie-in.

Afterwards, if it doesn't work, you may need to do this. I did. (Go to 1:35 on the video)
