Decided to sell my 2021 tundra so I can purchase one of the new ones. My question is, should I buy the hybrid or stay away? Also any general info on these new tundras and how well they run etc would be greatly appreciated.

The newer Tundra's are too new to truly know how well they run in the long term. That being said I would definitely be looking at a hybrid.

Will do, thank you for the info. Haven’t been on in a while. Forgot they have it split up by gen like that to find info easier

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
In my area hybrids are still being marked up.

It all depends on your finances and availability.

The hybrid has more horse power and costs more. Gas mileage is about the same. So if you have the dough and want more HP. Buy the hybrid.

For me I enjoy the daily drive of the non-hybrid model.

There are a lot of threads on problems and issues with the 3rd gens. There are also a lot of people on the forum who don’t have any issues.

Motor Trend’s review of a TRD Pro hybrid is pretty bad. Rated to tow over 11k, yet completely bullied by a 10k trailer. Significant axle hop. Various quality issues. Rough ride. “Constant jiggle throughout the cabin even on relatively smooth roads.” Abundant wind noise. Apparent sheet metal screeching noise when closing one of the doors. Most troubling, they managed to overheat the transmission. Most of these issues are mentioned by 3rd gen owners on this forum as well.

What makes you want to trade your ‘21 so quickly?

This is my favorite part "Toyota pipes a grumble of fake V-8 engine noise through the audio system."

Financially it's not a great decision. Longevity wise it doesn't look to be one as well.

I'd also like to know why you want to switch. I bought my 2021 in August specifically because I did not want a '22 or '23. But then I keep vehicles for a long time. Shortly after I got the 2021, I sold my 2000 which I bought new.

I upgraded from a 2018 Tacoma to a 2023 base tundra. Quality is much lower overall. Transmission shifts better though. That’s about it. Lol

I’ve had a bunch of Tundras and loved them all, but not even close to how much I’m enjoying my 2022 Platinum. Coming from the previous generation you will enjoy the regular power train. I’ve never driven a hybrid so I can’t speak on how much better it is, but when I bought this truck it was more expensive and I couldn’t justify the extra cost of the hybrid, and I really wanted the under seat storage. You’ll need thick skin though, because the only people that really are knocking the new Tundra are other Tundra owners. Check out the thread about what annoys you about the Tundra. Pretty much every single complaint people had were addressed with this new redesign, right down to the cup holders. Every new Tundra I ever owned went back to the dealer for some OCD issues and this truck is no different. I’ve had some minor things pop up that I wasn’t cool with but they were easily fixed. I now have 25,000 on my odometer and just like every other Tundra I’ve had, it runs perfect and still feels brand new. Take the truck for a serious test drive, even if you keep your 21, you won’t lose

If you use under seat storage then get the non hybrid. If you want vented and heated rear seat get the non hybrid. If you don’t need the extra 50 hp get the non hybrid.(boost upgrade down the line should solve this)

Recently sold my 2015 and purchased a low mileage 2020 because I wanted a proven platform with proven reliability. I also believe the 2.5 gens will hold their value better than gen 3. While it's subjective, like most people, I can't stand the looks of the gen 3.

    That's funny. I much prefer my 2015 over a 2020!

Yeah, I worded that kind of screwed up. I didn't mean to imply the 2020 was a better or more reliable than the 2015, the 2015 was a great truck. I just chose to upgrade recently to a late model 2.5 gen because it is going to get harder and harder to find a clean, low mileage example of one, and the 2022+ was ruled out as an option.
