My wife and I live in AZ and we have no family here and the few friends we have are scattered 15 - 70 miles away. We like to go hiking and will park at trailheads that are sometimes pretty remote. If the truck or Jeep wouldnt start we might have to wait a long time for anyone to come around. I like to carry equipment to rescue and recover myself if needed.

I contacted NOCO and they are possibly going to replace it for me.

Yeah, my battery went dead one day at the range. I had to wait about 45 minutes before someone else showed up. No real problem as I had plenty ammo.

I also would rather my wife be able to jump off her car than have to depend on a stranger. You never know...

Yup. A nice set of jumper cables works well. But they have one major drawback: having to interact with another human being, which is something I rarely like doing.

True but sometimes you don't have access to an old school jump vehicle.

I learned the same lesson with the lithium jump packs. Now I carry a JNC660, uses a replaceable lead acid battery rather than lithium, much safer and less susceptible to temperatures than lithium. Its what you typically will find on tow trucks and in garages. The thing is a beast and hasn't met an engine it can't start yet, even was able to use it to lower two outboards into the water and start them on a 4 battery setup boat with all dead batteries. This is the buy once cry once method, rather than disposable lithium packs.

There's a reason why tow truck drivers carry these and not lithium packs. The reason lithium packs are disposable is once they swell the battery is not replaceable and typically destroys the unit the JNC has a user serviceable replaceable battery or you can also send it back for repairs because it's a serviceable unit from a reputable company. Once a lithium pack leaves you stranded you will understand the difference. Lithium has its place it just isn't for jumper packs being left in vehicles over extreme temperature ranges. If you're someone who takes it in and out of the vehicle with you everyday then sure it will last a while for you. Lead acid batteries like to be stored at their highest possible voltage where as lithium is its most volatile and degrades the fastest while it's charged the highest which is the reason even Tesla does not advise charging their cars all the way unless necessary which is basically the opposite of what you need from a jumper pack. I carried a battery tender brand lithium pack for a while and it did service me well with cars until it swelled and became unusable once I bought my truck I knew I should carry something more heavy duty and noticed that garages typically use a JNC660 so that's what I went with. I also carry cables as a backup. As for being rated for fewer charge cycles, jumper packs are not typically used like phones where they are used and charged frequently, its about it being charged and ready to go when you need it, I charge mine after I use it to jump someone and top it off a couple times a year, the company will send you email reminders when you should top it off if you join thier mailing list. I don't really see charge cycles as a selling point for a jumper pack as much as the battery inside it being able to withstanding being kept at extreme temperatures with a full charge and not exploding. My pack never leaves my truck except when to be charged so it see temps well below freezing and temps well over 100 in the course of a year, if you live some where with mild temps this may not matter as much to you.
