Toyota Stalking, er...um, SPOTTING with Charlie™ (Land Cruiser, FJC, and Lexus LX/GX Edition)!

I only realized after looking closer that the Sport Special actually has crank windows and half-doors...

 

The Sport Special has the same top speed as the ZXT-6...

 

And this is what it looks like after being crashed into a concrete wall at 100+ MPH...

 

This is the Dune Edition, which has the same powertrain as the other two, but has two upgrades. Those are front and rear locking differentials, and raised suspension...

 

Putting her through her paces on the rocks...

Handles just like a real SUV when pushed to its limits...



Body damage after this little mishap was almost nonexistent, but the engine was damaged due to oil starvation...

 

There are several "limo" variants of the Hopper, and the extra length does not hinder off-road capability or general performance in the slightest!

 

This limo is one of several Hopper variants that has a functional snorkel!

 

I saw this on the backlot at Bennett Toyota, and based on the residue around the window, I'd say it was at the dealer getting the window replace; I have seen better-looking FZJ80s before, and while this one is not triple-locked, it is not the worst one I've seen...

So you prefer the older FJ80s that aren't triple-locked?

 

Carfax is letting me run license plates again, and it's a 1992, so the last year before the FZJ-80 with the option triple-locking differentials! Also, I was actually on the phone with my girlfriend when I was taking the pictures; I sent her pictures, and she said it looked like a Ford Explorer...

 

I don't have strong opinions one way or the other but that's one of my favourite generations of LC.

In the 1990 novel Jurassic Park, the tour vehicles were Land Cruisers, but in the 1993 movie I'm sure you know they were 1992 Ford Explorers...

 

I actually brought the whole "Explorer vs Land Cruiser in Jurassic Park" thing up with girlfriend and told it was rather ironic she would say the white 1992 FJ80 looked like an Explorer. Here is a Jurassic Park Explorer replica that I saw and photographed at the 2022 Carlisle Ford Nationals last June...
