I've had my 2006 for about a year and a half. I keep getting notices in the mail telling me that there is an airbag recall for my truck, and their records show I haven't had it done. Has anyone had this recall done? Should I even worry about it?

If it’s got one of the Takata airbags in it, if the airbag ever goes off, the charge canister can explode and send shrapnel into the face of whoever is in front of it

I thought it was also predetination if it corrodes or gets moisture build up. I get one every month or so, they get sneaky with their envelopes!

My issue with not wanting to worry about it is that dealerships are crap. Even if I call and schedule an appointment, I'm sure when I get there they'll say "We're backed up so you'll need to leave it with us for a few days."

Fortunately the 3 in my area....all ~70 miles from me are not crap. However, as both comments above allude to, it's not something I would take a chance with. It was a no brainer for me personally to have both of the Takata recalls done on my 04 for peace of mind if nothing else. Perhaps you can find a dealer that's not crap !

I guess I'll look into it. I'll just schedule a couple vacation days just in case I'm without a vehicle for more than a few hours.

One of my local dealers had the issue of parts availability. Had them call me when it was in and schedule a specific time to get it done. Went there and was able to wait in the lobby while they did the recall. Hopefully you can get something like that if you schedule far enough in the future.

I have an 06 and had the passenger side airbag replaced under the recall about a year or so ago. They would send me a letter about once a month. Then they started calling me on the phone. I called and set up an appointment so they would quit bugging me to get my shit up to date.
