I locked my truck with my key fob this morning and my alarm went off. This lasted a solid minute or more and no amount of unlocking with the fob or with the key would make it stop.

It did this to me once before a year or so ago. Now the key fob doesn't work at all and the red light doesn't blink when I push the button. Would a dead battery in the fob cause the alarm to go off? Seems unlikely. The battery isn't that old in the key fob so I'm surprised it would be dead.

    Thoughts?

You should have RS3000 TVIP in your truck. So the smaller fob. Have you seen the threads about the fob internals etching away at the PCB with repeated use?

Might not be a suitable solution for ya but Lil Steve had a plausible culprit considering you say an alarm went off. His panic button caused a loud alarm which it will do if it's malfunctioning.

Key fob sets off alarm when locking doors

Yup, this was my line of thinking also but don't remember if panic ends after a minute, and I don't think it's a good comparison for me to compare my RS3200's response.

Mine did the exact same thing the other day only when I unlocked it. Had to start the truck twice to get it to stop. It was a dead fob battery.

I thought I'd try the tape trick but it looks like mine already has the equivalent of that. There are two places where the black part has worn through so I'm throwing tape over that area. You can see one in the picture.

I put a new battery in and the clicker works again. Hopefully I don't get another false alarm. It's embarrassing when you can't turn it off.
