Finally got mine in and got the free trial. Disabled the seat belt chimes. And disabled the engine noise.

As someone who wanted the quieter cabin in the Pro, I found myself hearing the V6 engine, which is nowhere near as long to listen to, and it's still decently noisy. So surprisingly I turned the engine noise back on.

I come from a long line of V8 engines, including hand built AMG engines and 392 hemis, So I was surprised that I chose to have fake engine noise. Felt like a episode of Black mirror where I was fine with the artificial fakeness in my life

Anyone have a better explanation on how these work?

The first one is remote based, hold down the unlock button and all windows/moon roof open (there is not a corresponding button to close them)

The next two are to open/close via key in the door handle.

The rest are the one touch options to open/close the windows without having to hold the button.

The only one I changed from default in that list was the first one, open all windows when the unlock button / long press is done on the remote

Ah, for some reason I kept thinking the key pressing applied to every option on there, not just the top. Very cool, thanks man

I turned the engine noise off in my limited and really like it, though my last three trucks were v6s (incl 2 Tacomas) so I never had the V8 rumble.

I had the dealership turn off EES (enhanced engine sound) while I was signing the paperwork.

Have a question for those who have it turned off already, can you still hear your engine easily?

I’m just not 100% sure they turned it off. The sound is still noticeable but not sure if it is coming from the speakers anymore.

It was pretty silent even at redline with engine noise turned off. Maybe a little bit of engine fan noise but not much. Fixed that with an exhaust the next day.

That’s what I thought. I will have them look at it at the next service or just get a carista and just do it myself.

Apparently the Carista app works with any bluetooth OBD2 device, such as the ELM 327. I have one of those but haven't been able to test this because I can't find the bloody thing! :annoyed:

I have a VeePeak unit that I got for my BMW EV many years ago. I think the Carista app should work. I have to see if the Engine Sound is one of the options on my Limited.

I bought a $15 wifi OB2 adapter and used it with the Carista trial. Worked fine

Bought this one about a week ago. Couldn’t find the option for fake engine noise though for some reason. Everything else I was able to change.

SO I have this right, I buy this from the link, download the app, grab my 30 day trial and alter what it will allow me? I was going to have the dealer do it but the shop rate is 4 times what this thing is worth .

I think so? May be wise to get a Bluetooth one instead of a Wifi one though. Think that’s more compatible with other apps.

I listened carefully to mine before and after EES turned off. Before I thought it was unnecessarily loud, as in at the drivers seat this sounds like a V8 where the muffler is going bad. After, it sounds just like I would expect it to. OK, that doesn't tell you much. Let me put it another way: it went from much louder than a passenger car with a V8 to what I think my 2006 F150 sounded like, which I liked the sound of. I'd give it a wild guess of 6-8dB of reduction. Oh, and the wife likes it much better too, happy wife happy life :) Hope this helps some.

So I ran my Veepeak bluetooth dongle with the Carista app and it worked quite well. I didn't bother registering it because I don't have the fake engine sound to turn off in my Limited. I guess it comes with the JBL sound system which I didn't get (not available in the Limited in Canada). Everything else is okay to leave for now. I guess the trade off is that I get a TRD steering wheel rather then an extra 2 cylinders :)

Are you ever out in the north dallas area? I’m out in McKinney. I do work in FW once in a blue moon.

Does anyone in British Columbia have one of these? I am in the Okanagan / Shuswap. It goes from $29.99 to $160.99 to get it here out of the states. Thought I would reach out before taking the plunge

I have read this thread and searched and read other Carista threads. I just want to make sure I am understanding correctly. I have read that all the Carista kits are the same. I am on the Carista website and I want to buy the kit for my wife's 2022 Camry. It does not list a kit available for the Camry. Am I correct in thinking I can buy the Tundra kit and it will work with my 2018 Tundra and her 2022 Camry even though it does not list the Camry as available? I mostly want to make changes on my wife's Camry, especially the one button windows down option. It gets very hot in middle Georgia in the summer and that would be great for her. Thanks in advance for any help with this question.

I can't speak for the Camry directly, but it did work perfectly on my wife's 22 Highlander

Thanks 2020Platinum. For 40 dollars it isn't much of a loss but I didn't want to buy it if there was no chance.

It works on my 2022 Tundra and our 2013 RAV4 using the same module.
