Has anyone needed aftermarket UCAs to get a good alignment with a 1.5" lift?

2004 DC 4x4.

Looking at 4600s with Dobinsons springs and an Icon AAL. Should lift about 1.25-1.5" all around.

Has anyone done this and needed aftermarket UCAs to get a good alignment?

Planning on running 265/70/17.

no way.. not until approaching 3"....then again you are talking 1st gen... so.... my 2.5 gen not in the same ballpark

 

Why 4600s instead of 5100s?

 

I don't want to go higher than 1.5", the only benefit to 5100s is ability to go higher. Keeping these truck mods mild.

 

I didn’t know you can run any lift spring on the 4600. Aren’t the 5100s longer?

 

Also I’m running that size tire at stock height. Hoping to go to 285s soon with dobinsons and 5100s.

 

1stgenoffroad.com says I can run a Dobinsons c59-300 and it will achieve a 1.5" lift. The only benefit to 5100s is the ability to go higher.

4600s and 5100s are identical inside.

I am at stock height right now with the 265/70/17, staying at this size tire. Just want a better ride, appearance, and performance than the Monroes that are on it.

This sounds like what I might want to do to my truck. I don't want the hassle of 3"+. But I'd love a little more leveled look.

Didn't realize the 4600s were the same as 5100s. What's the total cost you're looking at?

Update, I misread the response from 1stgenoffroad.

They said for a double cab 4x4 it'll be 1.25-1.5" lift roughly. So might not exactly be 1.5"

 

That lift may potentially leave a double cab with about 1" of rake in the rear, beyond the stock rake.

I'll be really interested to see pics once complete and things settled.

You definitely have a point.

In fact, I'm second guessing doing the AAL. I am contemplating doing everything else and seeing where the front ride height lands.

But I do want some rake (rear higher than front), and I just discovered ATS springs and General springs, so I may skip the AAL and get new HD springs from one of them.

Consider any rake you have now. Add that setup. You may very well land with 1/2" to 1" more rake after the fact.

Some people love rake. I know I do - when I see a perfectly level truck, it almost looks like the ass-end is squatting to me. It looks "off" to me. Trucks are meant to have at least a little rake, the fender-wheel gap should always be lesser in the front than the rear IMO.

But you do you. Everyone has their taste. I know guys who prefer totally level, some who like a little squat, and others who prefer rake. It's a personal preference.

 

I just got confirmation from ATS that their HD springs fit the AC and DC. So I'll probably go that route, for a couple hundred bucks more I'll get new leaf packs.

Ended up going 5100s all around with Dobinsons coils and HD leaf springs. JBA UCAs
