Exhaust condensation excessive?

My exhaust puts out a lot of condensation for a very long time. I understand that some is normal on cold or cool days, but it seems like too much. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it because of turbos or should I be concerned. Also, I have not noticed the sweet coolant smell that would generally accompany a gasket issue...

 

It is the catalytic converter's job to convert unburned hydrocarbons in exhaust gases into carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O).
You're seeing the water.
If neither coolant system level is going down over time, perhaps your catalytic converters are just really good at what they do.

Thanks, I understand the mechanics of it all. I just wondered if anyone else has noticed that it seems extra steamy on these new Tundras. I have a recall that need to be done sometime soon and I can ask the dealer I suppose.

 

I see quite a bit from my rig as well, like mentioned I check the coolant level to make sure that isn’t the case, just figured it’s normal for now

 

I have noticed this as well, sure does seem like alot. About 10 seconds after startup it really has a thick plume from the tailpipe and then slowly goes back to 'normal' condensation.

I guess it's a combo of the 4 cats, the turbos and whatever cycle the D4-S engine uses at startup.

 

I have trauma for blowing two engines. One in my integra GSR and then I bought a type r with a bad head gasket and can remember the white smoke on a 60 degree day and then boom. New engine.

I bought my 23 on an 8 degree day and still 30 mins later it was pretty thick looking in the side mirror. I had instant flashbacks. I assume it’s normal as now we’re back here it ain’t so thick for too long

 

That is what scared me as well. I had a BMW 326 back in the day that did the same thing. Not cheap to fix as you could imagine. Especially for a 19 yo kid. Still have PTSD I guess. It seems like this may be a normal thing with these trucks then. Thank you all for your input. I love this truck.

 

Yeah my gsr said bye. Found an ITR on a lot bought it and it blew in 7 days. I sued the dealer and they paid a local acura dealership to drop a fresh crate ITR engine in it.

wish I had the receipt. Was like $9-10k

 

I'd hope they're really good at what they do for $3K a pop for each of the four.

 

Normal for this truck, but definitely more noticeable than my previous gen. The drain hole leaves big puddles after only a little while.

I have noticed this too. Especially when my right foot gets heavy on a cold day. It must be the combo of turbos and the exhaust system.

 

I was going to say this. The muffler is huge. I only notice the cloud of white vapor when I’m in the mountains in the winter. I assume it’s just melting ice left over in the mufflers.

 

It’s due to climate change.
