Did you catch one of those recent podcasts about how interrelated storm drains and groundwater replenishment are? It was fascinating. Seems everyone agrees that the best thing we could do would be to give back some wetlands around natural rivers and let storms flood those areas. But the political will to do that requires a boldness which is unlikely to be seen. Interestingly as well, there is no clear L vs R split on this topic.

I’ll try to find it.

I’m the meantime, I’m betting long on the PNW for this one reason primarily. A solid freshwater source and access to natural gas trumps solar energy production. It’s definitely a gamble though as who knows what will happen to electricity prices and the grid as we convert to EV’s.

No, I didn’t catch the podcast, I was just watching a documentary about how deserts were made livable starting with the Mesopotamians and then going into detail about the Southwest and it’s current water problem. I would like to see that article though about reclaiming the wetlands.

 

just cut a couple 2x4s at an angle and screw them together to block your from suspension.

I found out that the code -010 is for a large, so I ordered one at two separate stores. One called back with a substitution. Haven’t heard from the other. Both are 10 minutes apart and 1/2 hour to get there. Hopefully they’re not running on the small side to fit my hands.

When I went to that site w/link, I managed to find half a dozen for $5 and $8 respectively, all on clearance. But agreed, none of them were the ones I typically use which sell for $20-25 and last for years. Eventually mine usually bust at the finger seams before the leather gives way, and could probably be stitched but I usually just cut the fingers off ala Search for Animal Chin Wallows stylee.

Ha! No. I don't think that's very common in the South.

 

Yeah, down here, it's frowned upon to regulate anything.

Especially things that can easily kill someone if not in proper working order. Things like, cars, guns, residential building, all that stuff is nunya bidness.

(Unless it's seen as weird, or hippy dippy. Then it must be banned or feel the full weight of regulatory scrutiny. )

 

IDK you guys, @FirstGenVol, @shifty` I wouldn't want someone to slide/skid into me head on because they have no traction and didn't bother to replace their tires. Even worse if they're an uninsured driver.

 

Yeah, like, apparently we don't worry about that stuff down here. If it happens, it's what the big guy wanted for you, and you can't question the big guy.

 

And anyway, @Jack McCarthy maybe - just maybe - that's part of the reason this is so popular down here. They can't kill you if they're hitting your rubber-band tires!

 

Yeah I'm fine with no inspections. People will always find loopholes and I don't really count on government to save me from these people. A Google search says that some of the states that require inspections are also in the top 10 for most uninsured motorists on the road.

 

"Gotta pay to get up to snuff with inspections, now I can't afford insurance"

It's expensive being poor! (especially for you, if you get hit by one of those clowns with no insurance and don't have the more expensive uninsured motor coverage)

 

I need to build an apocalyptic road warrior vehicle and drive in one of these states. Maybe something with a menacing spinning auger on the front.
