Honestly the OEM bed step is nice. I prefer it over the ford tail gate step. Easier to use and better initial step height.

Problem is finding a complete oem bed step in stock. Ordered form toyotaparts because the website listed as in stock, but customer service cancelled my order and said it wasn't live inventory.

I ordered from my local Toyota dealer and though it was out of stock it arrived within about two weeks. Seems like Amp prioritizes the Toyota supply over their branded versions. Realtruck has been out of stock forever. Costs more from Toyota, of course. Nice step though. I just try not to look at it since it's crooked when retracted.

I ordered one from TheYotaGarage on August 1 and it’s been delayed since. I emailed AMP asking what’s going on and they said they had “some issues with the tooling” and was told 1/23 it should ship. I feel if I cancel and pay $100 more I’ll have it from the dealer sooner.

Well that's depressing... I ordered through them the first week of the year when their website said it was in stock. Naturally got an email saying it was backordered, but they claimed it would only be 2 months. 6+ months is pretty unacceptable. We're not talking about an entire vehicle, it's just a handful of parts that aren't complicated to that level.

I just had the dealership install the manual bed step for '22 Platinum trim, seems that the bed step in the retracted (up) position hits the bottom side of rear bumper, is this normal???

This thing is going to vibrate and cause damage to plastic and paint on the bottom edge of bumper.

Also, contacted Amp-Research, they said their bed step is not the same as Toyota OEM bed step. You can see the difference in their installation manual from Amp-Research vs all the YouTube videos out there. I wonder if Amp-Research fits better than OEM unit? Anyone have the Amp-Research installed on their Tundra? If so, please post some pictures of it from side and rear views. OEM looks like it was installed wrong when it is in the retracted position (which is 99% of the time you look at your truck). I'm really shocked that Toyota designed and manufactured this accessory to look this way.

    Here’s an email from TheYotaGarage,

Thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately AMP doesn't have a solid ETA for us on these and continues to push them back. At this point we are reluctant to say they will ever come in, but we are happy to keep the backorder open and when they do eventually arrive we will pack them up and ship them out.

I typically recommend customers switch to the Toyota OEM step at this point, but Toyota hasn't had availability on those for more than a month now. The only other option we know of would be a Rough Country step that hasn't hit the market yet. We are anxiously awaiting it so we can hopefully relieve some of these backorders and switch to something more readily available.

I can give a bit of info as far as the AMP steps are concerned. We placed our stocking order here at Hotshot Offroad for them back in May of '22 when they were announced. Their ETAs have continued to slip as we all are aware, but on 12/29 we got a written update from them to expect our first run of backstock to hit our place on 2/8/23, and we have not had an update since then.

We have orders that we placed in late-Dec that we are expecting to arrive mid-March.

Same deal here as I ordered one from a distributor showing in stock than an hour later I got this email :(
I’d be curious to see how the Rough Country step will look or fit.

I ordered the OEM step from my local dealer via the Toyota parts gateway. Price wasn't too bad, $283. The other local dealers were all asking $350. It showed in stock when I ordered and said it should be here in a couple days for local pickup so no shipping charge. But after reading this thread I wonder if that was accurate stock info and if I will really be getting it anytime soon. Hopefully, will have an update Monday.

Just try it. Add your vehicle VIN or use the part number posted above and see if your dealers participate.

Ordered an OEM bedstep trough toyota parts, the dealer I ordered from was super transparent about it. He said there is a nationwide backorder of 3500 steps. No one in the country has them in stock. No official ETA but said it will be about 2 months. Do you think Toyota changed the design a bit and needed to retool? Or that many people want a step on their truck lol.

My local dealer commented that Toyota is moving away from AMP because of continuous supply issues with them. This includes the power running boards (which is why I was asking). So I wouldn't be surprised if more than the running boards are being moved away.

Lol well it should have come as standard equipment so maybe this will convince them to start including it.

make a standard on SR/SR5 as the manual and Limited and up the power.

This supply chain issue makes me miss the simplicity of the Chevy bumper step and built in bed grip.

Toyota needs to figure this out.

Call Toyota an tell them to pull their head out and stop putting SUV bumpers on their pickups.

3.5 gen won't even have a tailgate. Hope AMP already has something in the works for that
