2014-2019 Toyota Entune 2.0


I currently have the Entune 2.0 radio in my truck. They will have a small number printed in the red square to help identify features ect. For the most part if it has the "Map Card" in the bottom right it is a Navigation unit. I paid $200 for mine out of a 2015 Crewmax. It has the Nav and all features.


This is a quick overview of all the connectors on the back.


The connectors for the Power/ Front Speakers and the Rear Speakers were a direct plug and play from my 2007 connectors.


I had the grey cable that plugs in the back of the radio and runs down to the center of the console for the USB/Aux connection. (It came with my dash). This made the USB a simple plug and play.
I bought a cheap $20 GPS antenna from Amazon and it works great for GPS. It has no plastic connector. I just slid the cable end over the pin and it held.
I also just plugged and FM radio antenna into the back of the radio the same way. It works not problems. I think the bottom of the 2 is the FM radio.

The input output connector was the most work. Everything in Red is for the Toyota Voice control mic that I added. I added connections to the following: Ignition (Power), CAN Bus, the reverse signal wire (for backup cam), Spiral Cable SW (Phone/Steering Wheel controls)

The connections in green were already in my 2007 truck. Pin 17 is a speed signal to the radio, the rest are for the Aux in 3.5mm jack below the USB connection.








2020+ Toyota Entune 3.0


The Entune 3.0 was introduced in the Tundra in 2020. It has a larger screen size, no cd player slot and comes with Apple Carplay from the factory. Unfortunately the connectors in the back are very different (size and shape) from the Entune 2.0 Unit. I am considering buying a 3.0 unit but it would take weeks to track down connectors and doing wiring to make it work on an older truck. I like the idea of factory Apple carplay however.

 

Awesome work. I get you want stock but might I suggest an aftermarket solution?

I love my Kenwood running through a Maestro RR2 that has everything plus OBD2.

 

How responsive are the OBD gauges? In my experience they all kind of lag a little. Not a big deal with most by you can tell on throttle and rpm.

I spent all weekend reverse engineering the CAN Bus to pull data from it instantly to run in a digital dashboard app. I might swap to an Android based tablet/radio and have a full digital dashboard or just mount a secondary tablet in truck. Still throwing around ideas but I am making good progress on mapping CAN signals to the 2014 and 2018 Clusters. This same data can then be fed into digital dashboard apps to get a fully digital real time responsive dash of many styles, colors ect.

 

I'll take a look next time I drive, it seems live but I have not paid close attention.

The tablet idea is a good one.

 

I took a 20 mile drive and it seems live. I paid close attention to the tach and it mirrored the physical tach as close to exactly as I could tell.

Did the seats plug in with the existing wiring? Also, you are da man...what a crazy mod. Awesome.

 

Unfortunately the style of the connectors changed on almost all the seat wiring.

The wiring is the same it just uses a slightly different connector. It can work but it is definitely not plug and play.


This is the difference in the passenger seat wiring.

 

Does the 2014 steering wheel bolt up to the 2007-2013 with out modifications? ie. air bag re-wiring?

 

OT question.... Do you have any photos of firewall and backside of new dash prior to install? I have a random squeak right in the center of my dash between the center speaker and windshield that I'm trying to track down the source of. (2017 Platinum)

 

Can you go into more detail on how you got your seats to work? Why do you say the power seat connector is not used in the 2014 seat?

 

What would you like to know exactly? I see alot of people talking about doing this swap but no clear full write up. Its alot of things to piece together and not exactly easy.

I didnt use the power seat connector on the passenger side becasue that seat has no power adjustment. On my TRD Pro seats, the drivers seat is the only one with power adjustments. I never sourced a "connector" for the drivers sides as its just one wire/pin you need to get power into the seat

 

Sounds like one would just need to use a male and female "environmental" terminal lug to make the connection if the OEM plug were to be cut off.

I went back and reread your seat post and now I’m understanding a little better. I have another question for you though. Did your original seatbelts work fine with the new seats you swapped in?

 

No, for what ever reason Toyota changed the buckle design on the newer seats meaning the old seat belt will not click into the new seat.

Some guys just swap the buckle portion from the old seat to the new one. Works if you have the new grey cloth seats. Mine are black however and I wanted black buckles so I swapped out the entire belt with a newer black one on the A pillar. At least that’s my plan, I haven’t actually done it yet.

Literally the last thing I need to do to fully finish my interior.

Currently I have a black 2007 buckle on my new seat so the grey 2007 belt will work but I would rather have the newer style black belt. Finding a driver side one not ruined because of an accident is not easy.

 

Okay gotcha. I figured it would be easier to switch buckles than seatbelts if it’s needed. I found a 2019 wrecked Limited Tundra in a junkyard a few miles from my house that was posted to Craigslist 2 days ago. I just called as soon as they opened and the front seats already gone

I am late to this party but this is amazing. I did a front end swap 07 to 14+ but this is next level. I do wish my interior was better but I don't know if I have the money nor the expertise for this.
