Question for those DIY or for those that did the chrome delete. I have a white tundra and did the chrome delete myself. Issue I am running into now is which black to use. For my window trims, door handles, and tailgate handle, I used gloss black. For my back bumper I used matte black. I want to wrap my dark gray fender flares but was wondering of satin, gloss, or matte is best option. I was also planning on doing the mustache and grill and I figured it would be gloss black.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as now it looks like I will have three different versions of vinyl black which is better than 3 different colors with gray, black, and chrome.

I’m looking forward to seeing what you decide to go with. I have the Windchill pearl color and looking to chrome delete as well.

I went with satin for my fender flares. I initially wrapped the mustache gloss, but it just didn't seem right and took it off. Satin is my next attempt, but might change the grill and see what color that comes with before I do the mustache

Fender flares and mustache were pretty straightforward, but these were the final pieces and long after my OCD had worn off with the door handles, trim, and tailgate handles.

Howdy! Wondering how well the vinyl wrap is doing on the window trip and mustache bar? I visited two wrap shops today, and both told me not no to wrapping, as the new plastic chrome won't hold the vinyl wrap well. I've not heard that before, and both stated they use 3M vinyl for wrapping. I won't pay over $400 for new window trim pieces, as I feel it's insane.

I've considered wrapping and sanding and painting them.

Would also love to see pictures!

And another Windchill Pearl White here, and yes, the chrome HAS to go!

Just to chime in,I couldn't stand all this chrome on the truck so I had to remediate it ASAP.
So for the door handles, tail gate, tailgate inserts and 4X4 badge I went with matte black and purchased from Amazon.
For the window treatments Im going with Sparks automotive they are also doing the back bumper outer left & right there going to color match in WCP, the window trim is on back order and painting the rear is a month out and that will be a gamble if I'll like it or not,I dunno we'll see...

In the meantime I will take the bumper pieces off and spray paint them in matte black.

Honestly I too feel there is waaaay to much chrome on these trucks I have know idea what I'm going to do for the door spears Anybody have any suggestions?
I don'twant to but new spears and paint them and replace he original ones but I think that maybe this might be the only way since they don't make them in black.

Thanks!! Looks great! I'm going to give it a try. I'm on the fence about a couple of methods. I've been considering either color match paint (DIY), U-pol Raptor liner black (you can spray it to just a small texture finish), and just a matt black paint. I found a guy selling a complete mustache bar fairly cheap in case of errors, so we'll see how it goes.

I used the badge covers from Sparks on my truck. They look good overall, but they don't allow the background color through on the "Limited" and "Tundra" badges. I may be able to touch them up with color match, but not sure how that would go.

I just finished up my rear bumper chrome swap a few minutes ago, using the rear tailgate handle and rear bumper inserts from Sparks. I'm also going to remove the window chrome and paint it flat black with some 2K matt clear with a UV protectant. I don't want to spend that much. Try to be a baller on a budget. Used the Tuffskinz tailgate inserts. Have the same for the front when I change out my grille.
    [IMG][IMG]
    [IMG] [IMG]

And with keeping the budget down, I went with an Amazon special for the tailgate step. It was $154.00, while Sparks had the Toyota one for $270. Overall it's fairly good, but it is very close to the bumper when in, but I've heard the factory one is as well, but can't compare the two. In the photo, it may appear to be hitting, but it isn't, and the little spot where the paint is flecked was already there. The top back bolt is a pain to get to, and I recommend doing it with the rear bumper cover off. I had already done the swap, and ended up removing the rear bumper cover support arm to get access better.

And lastly, I did get the black chrome exhaust pipe cover from Sparks as well. Was it needed? No. But I wanted it, and think it looks good. Didn't come with instructions, but it's simple enough that if you can't figure it out, I'd recommend getting a Prius.

I'll post more once I decide which way to go with the mustache bar.

color match it please, don’t black it out-makes it look cheap. If I was doing it again I would get the bumpershells cover for the stash

Thanks for the feedback. I'm hoping I can find somebody selling theirs in the 089 Wind Chill Pearl (yeah, like that is going to happen). I'd love to do a direct swap. I do like the color match option the best, but it would have to be a DIY, or wait about 6 months. But I've already got the TRD grill, RC Light Kit for it, etc.. and want to get that Limited Grille the hell off of it.

Have you thought of using plastidip? It's cheap and reversible if you didn't like it. I did my rear bumper last weekend with regular matte black and it turned out nice. Gonna do the front mustache this weekend if the weather cooperates

As of now none of the trims come color matched which sucks I had hoped they would...
I was thinking and torn similar as to you,do I take the time to do it right and remove the two pieces sand/scratch it up and plasti dip it, or bite the bullet and have it professionally color matched and to have it one and done.
Sparks parts out of SC which offers 100% toyo parts and will color match (which) can be tough because paint color matching is different on metal from plastic, meaning exact paint but it will look different on the two mediums. So any how there doing mine hopefully there going to bake the parts to extract all of the oils out of it before they paint and bake it again to harden it.I honestly don't know & I'm gambling on it,I trust that they will but It seems as in today's current situation of laxadasiy BS zero accountability for anything and zero repercussions for ones actions...
sorry for the rant maybe I'm just old school but this is my thinking and again hoping for the best out come.

Hopefully I will get them within a month and I'll post pics.
It's funny how we are junkies when it comes to creating our trucks to our likings.

Thanks! It's really easy stuff to use. The process is generally something like this:
    1. Make sure to mask everything off. Even though plastidip is removable, overspray can be kind of a pain.
    2. Clean the area really well. I used a quick detailing ratio of ONR followed by some 91 ISO alcohol with a microfiber towel. Using just the alcohol would be sufficient.
    3. Starter coats. I spray the first 2 to 3 coats pretty lightly (something like 25-30% coverage per coat) with about 15 minutes in between.
    4. The next coats can go on pretty heavy, just make sure you don't get any runs. I tend to alternate between spraying vertical and horizontal on each successive coat for even coverage. Still waiting 15-20 minutes between.
    5. Doing 6ish coats would be fine. I was smoking a brisket and drinking some beers so I'm not exactly sure how many I did. Probably somewhere around 9 or 10.
I'll post up some pictures when I'm able to get the mustache done

Finished the mustache remediation! Of course it started pouring as soon as I pulled the masking so I have it stuffed in the garage for the night. This is the only picture I took of it blacked out before nature decided to rain on my parade

Looks great! I have considered it, and am on the fence on a number of things. I've been reading so much, and looking at pictures over and over. Trying to determine the moustache bar route. I did buy one can of a color match for the Wind Chill Pearl, and am going to do some cheap door handle colors first. If that works out, I may try the moustache bar. I've already blacked out the bumper, but may try and color match the original chrome covers if I get to it. Lots of thought and decision. Still looking for any vinyl wrap that I could find in the original color. Seems elusive.

Thanks. Very interesting. So the only Plasti Dip I’m familiar with is a syrupy thick dip in a tall can from Harbor Fright. Are you using something different?

Yeah exact color matching seems to be pretty difficult. Supposedly the anthracite plastidip + glossifier is a close match to MGM but luckily matte black matches what I have on the Tundra already

That's probably the same stuff but I use the stuff in an aerosol can. They're around $6 each at Home Depot.

I'm going to be painting my door handles this weekend. I purchased an 11 ounce can of color match from R&E Supply that's for the Wind Chill Pearl. It came with base coat, mid coat, and I also purchased a couple of cans of high gloss 2k clear.

I'm not a painter, but have a neighbor that does it for a living, and if I screw it up, he's going to get me a deal on color matching anything I want, but I figured I'd try it first. I'm going to do the door handle covers, then move up to the bumper pieces (already replaced the silver with black, so I have a set I can stand to screw up) and if those come out, will try my hand at the mustache bar. I screw that up too badly and I'll either have him do it, or order a Bumpershellz cover.

Nice! Take your time and nail the prep and I'm sure it'll turn out good. I really like the Bumpershellz and thought about going that route. I just couldn't justify the cost vs 2 spray cans, a 6 pack of beverages, and an afternoon in the garage.

Nice job!! Looks so much better than that stupid Silver I’ll have. Did you remove it to paint and just mask it off?
