Master warning light??

A random warning light, which turned out to be a defective hood latch, does not make it a "shitty truck" to quote the OP.

People join when they get warning light, say the truck sucks, get their answer and are never seen again until something else goes wrong or they need to put bigger tires on.

He hasn't been back in a year, so who knows if he's still happy with it. Maybe he did get a lemon, we may never know.

 

Why is it odd? I've driven out of the driveway and forgot to shut mine all the way after having the hood up to charge the battery. It would be nice if it told you why it was beeping but once you know its a good reminder to have in the off chance you dont shut your hood all the way or accidentally pull the hood release. This same topic has been brought up a few times, one time a guys mother in law used the parking break and thought the hood release was the parking brake release and he couldn't figure out what was causing the beeping. I've never seen a situation yet that the beep and yellow triangle warning with out any read out on thr screen has been something besides the hood latch.

 

A defective hood latch on a brand new truck? Anything defective on a brand new vehicle should not be acceptable.
My 04 Tundra doesn't have a defective hood but if it did I wouldn't know it because it would not set off a silly warning light or buzzer. My 2019 might have a defective hood latch..something defective as the warning light/buzzer goes off for no apparent reason. Is the 2019 as good as my 04?

You never know what the person who owned your truck before you did to it either. It could have had a front end collision never reported to insurance.

Its telling you the hood is open, if the latch is defective and it is actually shut but it thinks its open, the truck still thinks its open. Im sure if you went and unplugged the sensor it would also set it off. Would it be odd if the truck set off a warning because it though the door was open?

 

I have driven cars and trucks for over 40 years and I don't think I ever had a vehicle tell me my hood was not latched...until now. I wonder how I survived.

 

Glad you've made it 40 years to revive a 3 year old thread to complain about someone elses post. Heres to another 40 , hopefully you get better at forums by then.

 

I wasn't complaining simply making a comment about new vehicles. The current thinking is that we have to have sensors all over the vehicle so that if the hood is unlatched, or someone leaves dirty socks in the backseat, lights flash, alarms sound, and the vehicle won't move. More things to break and cost more $$ to fix...

 

I love zombie threads. 9 times out of 10 they start entertaining shit slinging.
