I just spoke to a bullydog rep.. they said the battery can't drop below 12 whatever's' So you need to have it hooked up to a charger when doing anything with it.. anyone that has a bullydog that has installed or uninstalled or changed tune, you've had it on a charger ?

I guess I am over cautious so yes I hooked my charger up when I installed it initially and when I changed tunes. Rockin' the performance everything and HELL YEAH :bananadance:

I am such a tech illiterate...I like the idea of trying one of these out and putting it on there. But, no way in hell am I smart enough to make it work. Plus, they say to do it during Bullydog's business hours, so that if there is a problem they can help. My truck is '13 so no warranty or unhooking issues. But it worries me still. I have watched a couple videos of it being installed.

I've been looking over mine and the year says 2010-2013. Spoke to a guy in the phone at bullydog and he said they messed up on the last update. It's suppose to say 2010-2017 but they dropped the ball on that one.. that was my initial purpose for the call.. and he told me if I wanted to change it to stock that I'd have to plug it into a battery charger with is pretty dumb.. shouldn't have to go thru all that to uninstall or program it.

Yeah so I called for the same reason. I was assured it was the right tune for my 2014. For what its worth plugging the charger up is worth the time since it could eff some stuff up ya know? Dumb and unnecessary yes but in my eyes worth it to ensure battery doesn't drop

I think I'm more pissed off for the simple reason that now I got to go buy a battery charger.. it's just dumb, but my rant for the day I guess..

Never thought of that. lol that's a good idea tho, unless the Honda started to draw power from my end, then that would be bad.. maybe a bad idea now that I think about it:rofl:

    Correc
Correct. If it drops below 12V it won't take the tune and it can fuck up your ECM. And also correct if you take it in for service or any warranty issues.....charger back on reinstall stock tune and pull everything. You also don't HAVE to leave it hooked up. You can just install the tune you want and pull the rest bit then you don't get the pretty little box that's half the size of a phone to look at:D

.... @GNTundra can help he did his with no help from BullyDog

Depends on how he hooked it up? Does it turn off and on with the key? If so he put a fuse tap (more than likely) to a 10 or 15 amp fuse to have ignition power. Probably the windshield wiper fuse or the charging port Since our power isn't constant on Those (stupidest thing ever). And it should also be hooked up to the obdii underneath and to the left of the steering wheel. If you have to physically turn it on and off each time then it is just hooked to the obdii

    See fine print
All tuners say to plug the vehicles to a charger. It's just in case your voltage drops below 12v. Like everyone says you don't have to hook it up to a charger but if it drops below 12v you can brick your Ecu.

I have one of those portable jump starters. That can work too.

That is correct. They did miss that on the last update. I just did mine about a month ago. Yes you need to have your battery above 11.9V. If that means you put a charger(10 amp/hour NOT A TENDER) on it while the program loads thats a pretty easy thing to do vs your battery dropping below 11.9v and it jacking up your computer. If your battery is under 11.9 the bullydog won't even let you pass that screen. I had a hell of a time loading mine the first time because you need a windows based computer. Spent 8 hours trying to find my old laptop and trying to run about 7 years of updates to get it to even load the program bullydog needs to use to update the unit before you can install it in the truck.
Their customer service was pretty helpful.

With all that said it would be really nice if somehow they could get these things like other tuners where you can adjust on the fly. I miss my Diesel for that reason.

No, I wanted to redo it cause it said 2010-2013, so I was kinda getting ready to do it and called a tech. He told me they ducked up and updated the 2010-2017 with just 2013. Then told me to plug a battery charger in, that's how it all started

Before the first time you load it in your truck you verify that it has the most up to date software on it. If you unfold the big instruction sheet thing that came with it its like the first couple steps. After that yup just plug it in and run through the menus and follow the instructions it tells you.
