2006 Tundra Windsheild moulding and weatherstrip

I am missing the drivers side bottom corner moulding piece on the windshield . I was going to replace all the weather stripping and moulding but Toyota parts wants over $200 so i am just looking for the corner piece if anyone knows where to get one.

It's not. I'm just anal when things are not where they belong.

 

Best bet is probably heading to a non-chain windshield/glass place. The guy who came out to replace the windshield on our '20 Highlander seemed to know a lot about the outer trim pieces and the gen1 in particular. Guy from Boston. Had a wicked accent. Super seasoned guy, you could tell he'd been doing it for a minute.

 

Does that small piece get replaced when you get a new windshield?

 

When I asked the guy what he recommended for my '06, he said he prefers to replace all outer seals and trim pieces, top/bottom/sides. He said it's because they inevitably snap off something here or there, or are dry rotted, and they are important for keeping water out of the dash/cab. He said he prefers to do the roof rack covers also, too many times he hasn't and he gets callbacks days later because they're flopping around in the wind down the interstate. Sometimes they can just be cleaned up and re-taped to the front.

He told me I could decline replacing the outer trim pieces if I did my windshield, because it'd cost an extra $200-300 to do them, but if I did them, I could rest assured the windshield would be good and leak free for at least another 15-20 years.

I haven't called him back yet. Furthest thing from my mind right now is replacing my windshield. I need to, because I fine wiper scratch marks that show in the sun. Previous owner drove dirt roads often and didn't change wipers frequently enough, unfortunately.
