Does anyone that owns a new 23 TRD PRO have any insight on how to disable the auto stop/start function?

I have been very intuitive and adaptable with vehicles my whole life, but after all the research I have done, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to turn it off.

every single model I am seeing out there has the A button with the circle/arrow around it to temporarily disable the function. But in my 23’ it is not in the dash cluster nor in any option that I can find in settings. Did they take the ability to turn it off away??

it seems crazy to me that I cannot find it. I’m actually hoping someone is going to make me feel stupid after all the reading and searching I did.

What am I missing?? I will take a pic if the dash too. The button is simply not in my truck.

    thank you!

The TRD Pro is a hybrid right? I think I saw that the hybrids don’t have the disable button.

So it’s that simple. The Hybrids lose the option to disable auto stop all together? Seems crazy especially for the fact that when the truck is on but no RpM’s, the heat won’t pump. Scenario - if I had someone freezing cold and pulled them in from the elements, I can’t even over ride my truck to get it to pump heat…?

I don't believe it's an option on the hybrids. However, if you did have the option it would be in the button cluster to the lower left of the steering wheel... (middle of the top row in this pic) w/ 'A' circled and the word 'OFF' under the circled A

Your welcome... Sorry, that your new rig is without that option; as others have already said, it must have something to do w/the hybrid platform.

I try to be open minded with the nuances of new technology, but at the same time I find myself gravitating back to more simpler times and technology especially as it pertains to vehicles.

The Hybrids are designed to run when needed and off when not. If you set the heater to be hot and it isn't, the engine will turn on. If the water in the system is hot and the engine is not required, it can shut off and will still heat up the cabin. Also, as a second note, with the electric motor, you can punch it at take off and the electric motor will get you moving while the engine spins up. Instant power like a motor that is always on without having to be on. A lot of engineering in the design. We bought the hybrid after doing the research and am quite happy with it as well as what it was designed for.

If you do not want your truck (Hybrids that is) to turn off at a stop sign/red light or for any matter, switch your truck in "Tow" mode or manual mode, it'll stay on regardless of what you do.

But like others have mentioned above, the hybrid system is very well engineered and it's not causing the truck any harm, and IIRC, there are not alternators in the hybrids either!

This. If you don't want it to turn off use the tow mode or manual. I think Sport mode also keeps the engine on all the time. But the hybrids do not operate with the standard start/stop feature of the regular gas version. It is very different in that your engine might shut off at low speed but you keep driving. Or even on the freeway for that matter if the engine load is very low. The gas version simply turns off the engine when at a complete stop and then starts again when you let off the break to start to move again. The hybrid also kind of functions that way, but there is way more to it.

I agree with most of you said and I am also VERY happy with just about every aspect of this new design and technical aspects. But I am experiencing it blowing straight cold air as soon as it flips to electric. That’s been my biggest reason for wanting to keep it on is wanting to know that if after hunting or any other type of outdoor adventure I could easily and quickly heat someone up if needed. I guess I’ll try to put it in tow mode and see if stays on while in park?

I think it could be a very useful tool having the ability to disable the hybrid for a few reasons. Thanks for everyone’s input. It’s awesome to have people passionate about helping others.

This doesn’t make sense because the heater and the AC are not powered by the engine, they’re electric. So there’s another issue there.

interesting. I’m going to run some more testing and then may get it checked out. Doesn’t seem like it’s kicking heat when it pushes to hybrid.

I've got a hybrid and likely live north of you, so I know the need for heat. I've also had a traditional gas vehicle with auto stop/start that stopped heating/cooling HVAC when the engine shut off (it's annoying). My truck doesn't do this, it does not start blowing cold when the engine shuts off. I know that running in Eco mode changes some HVAC settings but I'm not sure which exactly as I haven't put it in Eco. I don't know if you are ever in Eco or if that could be the cause, but worth checking. If you're not in Eco mode and it's blowing cold air as soon as the engine shuts down with no other changes to the temperature settings, I think you've got some sort of issue as well.

He probably does but I have to say compared to the non-hybrid I really never notice my hybrid auto off. It’s almost seamless.

Ya I totally agree with you. I have to really pay attention to know if the engine is on/off

I had a trip pulling a light trailer and used the tow mode. No shut-off at stops. Easy

I’m in Canada and have a hybrid. I had to park the truck outside in -20c for a few days. And before I went to pick it up, I cycled the remote start 3x. Showed up to hop in the truck and interior is ice cold, no snow melted off the windshield, but truck was on, engine not running though. I had it left in eco mode, not sure if that was the problem

anyone else run into that issue?

That’s awesome info thank you! That give me the confidence to start narrowing down if there is an issue with it communicating the proper temp inside. It’s a small issue but in extremes where I would have to get someone warmed up I want it to work right. More testing to do!

you’d think that would allow access to cold and hot temp remote start settings.
