Underhood fuel leak

No brakes = no stop = don't want to go
No fuel line = no go = can't move

I get it if they want to kill parts that aren't vital to moving or stopping. Discontinuing parts critical to keeping the vehicle driving is stupid IMHO.

 

I'd highly recommend the wix filter from Rockauto that comes with a new bracket if you're going to replace the filter. That's what was put on mine when they replaced the frame. Don't have to deal with that rusty clamp

I have been reading all the posts here, and am in the middle of a frame swap of my own.
After doing all the research you awesome posters have done, I talked with a local rebuilder/fabricator, and he told me about this:

He stated that this is his go to for all fuel lines when doing LS swaps and rebuilds.

I just bought some, so when I get it hooked up, I will post some pictures for you.

 

Guess I should post the repair by the shop near me that did a hack job repair for replacing the fuel line and OEM fuel filter. Broke every bracket in the process. Ideally I would think you’d cut the line and slide it out sideways from the clip rather than trying to pull it out and breaking it. Total hack job was $413.

 

Hack jobs suck for sure. Did the shop say anything about the other side of the line that goes to the fuel rail?, I'd be worried about that one next. Another thing I would definitely do is to secure that fuel filter, even if you have to use a smaller bolt through the holes, it would be better than nothing. Good luck.

 

Yeah, I actually brought up the leak and bypassing the fitting and splicing into the line, but he decided he didn’t want to do it and that he could salvage the existing line so now I need to worry about that one rusting through. He also said the filter was leaking when he put it on the lift and I knew that was complete bullshit as I was trying to see if I could get the fitting loose with rust penetrant but knew it wasn’t going to be easy. I even stopped by and talked to the the guy working on it and he stated whoever worked on it last broke the fuel line clips. I told him he was the only guy who touched it and that I do all my own work. He went quiet after that.

Basically it came down to just getting it done and they were willing to put it on a drive-on-lift. Had a 2 post lift been used, it could have further damaged the front frame with the hole in the bottom and I didn’t want to call every shop in the area to find out who be willing to do the work on a 4 post (drive-on-lift).

Nah, at this point I think he wants it to spring a leak so the truck burns to the ground and he can collect that sweet sweet insurance money.
