I think I might replace two tires. Dunno. Might be nice to have a set of snows for this rig too. I like me snows.

(I’m not saying going 200. Just seeing the Speedo go that high when it all comes to life)

Iirc they changed the specifications of 75w-90 or 80w-90 and the 75w-110 was made to meet those older specs.

Toyota already makes 3.58's just snag some from a 4runner or Tacoma and a conversion pinion flange for the rear. You can do iiiittttt.

Hmmm..... Same size as what's in my Taco..... Wait.... that sounds worse when I say it out loud.

Sounds like you already had better things to do 17 months ago.... with 3.5 in a Taco, or something...

I went back and forth over whether to go modern 75w-90, but with temps here rarely getting near 0°F, figured 75w-140 full-syn was viable. Will find out soon enough if it's problematic, I guess...

Actually, guess this is worthy of tagging @empty_lord. What say ye? 75w-140 full-syn in front, rear diffs and tc for non-freezing areas?

Amsoil says "go for it". Mobil 1 recommends 75w-90. I've read elsewhere it's OK in front and rear, but "only use 75w-90 in the tc".

I would avoid 140 in the tc personally. Ideally 75w-90 across the board.

I trust a mech. Just switched up the order to 75w90. They gave me all my discounts still 7qt @ $90. But they couldn't stop me from getting both, so 7 bottles of 75w90 and 7 of the 75w140 are incoming...

It's interesting, I saw on TS where another member's mechanic put Toyota 0028975140 in his LSD. Last 4-5 digits on Toyota's fluid part numbers usually tell you the weight. In this case ... 75140, i.e. 75w140.

But same Toyota tech told him only 75w-90 in the tc. so ...

Edit/update: The Mobil1 synthetic LS fluids didn't work for my limited slip diff. I'm getting chatter all the time now. If you have an LSD in your truck, don't use Mobil1 fluids in the rear. Updating this post in case it saves someone else the hassle.

265k+ miles of 75W90 here. All cases. I’ve changed it twice during my ownership which started at 99k miles 18 years ago.

And unless it goes underwater or becomes my daily again with any heavy towing, I’ve likely changed it for the last time. Front diff and transfer case for sure. Both times I changed it they looked like they came straight out of the bottle. The rear diff looked rough the first change. Not too bad the last time. At 1000-1500 miles a year now it will last a lifetime for me.

There've been enough comments like this floating around here and at TS' 1st Gen forums like this, I think experiences like @w666's and those other folks dealing with chatter after is what gets people worried. Are you running full-syn or conventional 75w-90? Pre-loaded with additive, or applying your own additive?

Full synth for 165k miles in a non-LSD. Not sure what would chatter in a properly shimmed non-LSD diff. Minutia in fluid viscosity shouldn't have an affect. LSD is a different story, especially clutch types. Those are finicky with viscosity and additives. My 98 Blazer with LSD rear required 15k mile diff fluid changes to keep the additives fresh.

Toyota doesn’t have a 140 weight I know of. But I tried the Toyota LSD gear oil, and my lsd still chattered. The Lucas severe duty was the only stuff that didn’t

Believe it or not, I've got one. He lives about 10 blocks away. When his daughter went away to college, I overhauled his wife's 1970s Royce Union bike for the cost of parts. If I had an older house with L&P, I'd have no issues :D

I don't think it matters what trade you're in, the actual trade going on is trading money for later aches & pains. If I didn't know any better I'd think that's how it originally got the name "trade" in the first place. Even the few years I had working catering (which is unusually brutal if you do setup, may as well be a mover in a monkey suit) and then doing commercial electrical, I still have pain flare-ups from injuries.

Now I know who to tag for tile related questions. I've got a weird, recurring grout cracking issue on a curb in my master bath I'm fighting with.

Wasn't on purpose! 6.2qts to fill all three, had to order twice. Shit I do to save money eh. I know! "You gotta spend money to save money", amirite?

And no clue on mixing. If the M1 syn 75w90 LS doesn't work out, I may just keep the 140 and swap out. If that fails, I'm going to feel like a real dumbass. Which won't be anything new for me.

Edit/update: The Mobil1 synthetic LS fluids didn't work for my limited slip diff. I'm getting chatter all the time now. If you have an LSD in your truck, don't use Mobil1 fluids in the rear.

You would either end up with 150w230 or 75w115. I've long forgotten the forumlas.....

Digging around on the 'bob is the oil guy' forum looks like a combo if mixed equally would be 75w115, but i'm having a hard time believing they'd stay mixed while warm.

I'm wondering if it's just one of those things you guys may not use up there as much due to the cold. Down here, and anywhere further south of me, lubricants tend to run a little thinner. We just don't have as-extreme temps. I think I've seen it go negative once in 20-something years, no more than 2-3 days in the teens, and it's rarely below 30 for more than 3-4 consecutive days. And even then, our garage is virtually always above 50F.

Great price. It's got or had an aftermarket alarm at one point, which may mean you've got spaghetti under the dash and electrical gremlins to work out.

I'd read from someone else on here that the auto-ride-height adjustment was important to confirm working, but I think that's in '04+ or something?

I like it. I'd want to see the CarFax and Dealership records.

I had liability only (this was the $750 sequoia). I got off the last of the exhaust bolts last night and that was a huge victory! I bought replacement cats on eBay so we'll see how well they hold up. I'm installing them tonight.

My coworker took pictures of the car they drove of in, but it had no plates and the cop was pretty sure the car was stolen so he didn't have much hope of finding anything.

I think I'll just keep the sequoia as a backup/snow car/haul a bunch of kids and turn the LX470 into a mid-level offroader.
