    Hey y'all,

Anyone know how to get the gracenote db update. Maybe a Toyota tech on here? I know what it is, and I know Toyota is the only one that makes it so difficult to update, but I am having no luck getting the update. I asked my Toyota service center and they have no idea what I'm talking about, the conversation keeps going toward and entune update which shouldn't be necessary.

They're saying they never do them, so they don't know how, and I don't know enough of how it works behind the desk to help them along or tell them where to look.

Has anyone here successfully got it updated? Or knows how to get the update to apply myself, it should be just a thumb drive and a button push....

Unfortunately the download link on that page throws me to an access denied message...

But, the instructions link is a step forward... atleast there's some indication that we can update the database. I swear the tech's got the deer in the headlights look when I started talking about it. They would not get off the entune update, even printed the entune update docs off for me. They were trying to be helpful but they really had no idea what I was talking about. I guess not too many toyota owners listen to bluetooth, otherwise they'd notice the album art stops showing up or starts turning into generic genre images.

    :) We're close.

That first link you shared brings me to a page that looks like what you posted. What do you get when you click that second link (circled in red)?

Ok thanks. I get the instructions (like your posted PDF & word doc) when I click the blue highlighted link... I get a no access message when I click the red one, which is where I'd expect the updated database to be.

Right click the one circled in red, then "save as".
I did that and have a file called cmu-NA-021115.up
I haven't gone out to the truck to try it yet though.

yeah, i think if you open it with a text editor like notepad you'll see the same thing I saw, the unauthorized access stuff... Thanks for checking it out though.

Really disappointed this is such a difficult process... the head unit makes it easy (insert drive, press button) but getting the update seems like it requires an act of congress... :(

Gracenote is a Nielsen Company now lol. Good luck getting anything at all. No one is hosting that file either, there is a bunch of Mazda forum discussions but all the threads link back to the same access denied which is hosted on an Amazon S3 server and apparently locked down or has been done away with at this point.

After a ton more digging, looks like the Subaru guys are being taken care of. the page links to a download page and the F10 Gracenote database file is at the top 3rd down.

    or direct link here

Not sure if it is a general database update or model/vehicle specific....

Both of those links took me to an .exe file which I'm not messing with. According to the Toyota instructions you should have a .up file to load.
Did you have any luck with what you downloaded?

Yeah, it was a self running zip file. It decompressed to a bunch of files, none being an .up file. Of course, I'm sure there's a bunch of different ways this thing is implemented.

Nogo trying to update with it, but it was a long shot anyways. Good find though :)

I found Acura helps their customers, too - http://acuranavi.navigation.com/pages/en_US/AcuraNA/USD/Acura/Alpine_3.2.html - but it looks like the same structure as you found for subaru.

I called Entune support. A pleasant call but the reps have no idea what Gracenote is, and tried to keep referring me back to the dealer that I've already established doesn't understand what I'm talking about. So they escalated it to the product service manager, and I should be getting a call back from a CSR in a couple days. I'll let you know how it goes.

Side rant, I don't know why car manufacturers are allowed to get away with this crap. They put in features and never support them. Dodge didn't update their nav maps in the 2+ years that I owned my Durango, and in an area where the highways seem to change daily, it renders it useless pretty quickly. Entire highways were built that the nav didn't know about, so I was reduced to Waze/Google Maps on the phone after paying such a hefty price for the nav option. Now Toyota and their Gracenote feature... "hey, check this feature out, enjoy it when you buy it because we are going to make it complicated as hell to update. Good luck, sucka." smh...

I'm installing the Entune app on my phone. That was interesting... GooglePlay says none of my devices are compatible, even though I had it on an older phone under the same account. Dug around and found an older version .apk I'm going to install. I'll fire it up in the truck and see if that is any help to the Entune/Gracenote update process. ..probably not..

Side rant note: Wait until you need to update your map in the truck. Same dance from the dealer. Just bypass that step and get the updated mapset from fleabay. ;)

I have the entune app, which connects each time I get in. I had read in one of the toy forums that a person was told gracenote updates automatically through the entune app, but that's just not true.

Thanks for the tip on the map update!
