I just googled a slap gif. No idea what it's from, but I knew it'd get a laugh or two.

    It did from me.
Silicon Valley, never heard of it. Maybe entertaining.

But, moldy cheese with fermented grapes, yum.

I feel like an idiot because I'll soon be selling my only vehicle of the 3 we currently own that doesn't have a crack in the windshield.

Got a big chip in the Tundra's windshield on the highway on Sunday to go with the crack it's had since the truck was almost brand new.

Do you not have glass coverage on your insurance? Not sure how insurance works up there, but on mine I have a $50 glass deductible, so I'd be for replacing anything with a bothersome crack or large chip.

Same; and it’s an “act of god” it’s covered free. I’ve sued the “act of god” on my old Corolla from a hail storm, and have had the tundra and wives previous Highlander windshield repaired and replaced with it (deductible)

No insurance company covers glass in Alberta. The "sand" they put on the roads is more like gravel and windshields without chips in them are few and far between.

Bummer. I know the glass ain't cheap on the TSS equipped stuff, and I've heard the knockoff chinesium glass can cause problems. I'd probably wait on it as well.

Honestly, the more I hear about Canada, the more I feel like you and @Outbound need to move down here. It's not like The States are without issues, but they seem more livable than what's going on up there.

Check out AMI. They're a third party add on for windshields. Runs $130 - $150 per year, $50 deductible. I would get a new windshield once.a year with my old truck.

The States are massively more liveable than Canada. There are some things I like here, mainly the amount of public land and low population, but overall Canada has nowhere near the opportunity, potential or freedom of the States.

Chloroform the woman, run to the border/across, and claim asylum. Pretty sure you'd like Montana or Wyoming. Similar open spaces, especially in Wyoming. You also have a marketable skill, yes? I assume you're good at welding?

That made it sound like leaving the woman behind, and that's not what I meant. I just meant you haul her unconscious in case she is reluctant to uproot.

Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah and Alaska seem to be right up my alley. North and mid-west generally.

Before The Great Panic, we were loosely working with an immigration lawyer. Unfortunately, welding isn't considered "in demand" or on the list of skills that boost an application, so getting a the visa that way wouldn't happen. I'm working on my project management certificate which might open a few doors on the white collar side.

The easiest and quickest way would have been to basically buy our way in with a $500k USD invesment in a US business. Contrary to popular opinion, I don't have that kind of money.

There were a few other details in the legalese and such, but that's the gist of it. The Great Panic kyboshed the whole thing for awhile and then lil' AK came along which has The Woman hesitant to uproot our lives and basically start over.

So for now, I wait. It may end up coming down to buying property down there and doing the 6 month less a day thing and worst case waiting until retirement.

Ah, I didn't know you had so seriously worked on it. That's awesome! I'll do some research and see if I can come up with anything that could help you guys make the move a little easier. No promises, but I'll see if anything pops up. There's actually a coworker of mine who is Canadian, green card and all, who is dumber than a bag of hammers and she managed it, so you should be able to pull it off.

Vehicles will become a subsidized commodity so everyone can have a new vehicle whenever they please! Also you no longer can become a billionaire. After 999 million your money goes towards the acquisition and maintenance of public land.
