Keep up posted on your findings! I had the truck apart today doing some sound deadening and was wondering the same exact thing... My biggest regret is not having the heated steering wheel. Anyhow, I also found a handful of harnesses in the door that were unused, presumably for accent lighting that the truck is not equipped with. Limited OR here.

The first time I used it, I thought it was really warm, but every time I use it now, it takes a while to warm up. After it's warm, it goes through cycles of colling down and re-warming.

I have a US SR5 TRD OR. It has the Advanced Off-Road Technology package and the TRD Off-Road Premium package. It's basically the most loaded SR5 you can get. The heated steering wheel is listed on the window sticker as a separate line item, it is not listed as a part of another package.

    Lots of stuff!
I grabbed this screenshot from my Canadian brochure: We get the TRD red striped heated steering wheel in the TRD offroad package. If we get the regular trim, it comes with the heated steering wheel as well, probably without the red stripe.

This list is not complete as the 360 camera view is not listed. It does appear on the website when you add the TRD offroad package.

As info, my heated steering wheel stopped working, was diagnosed as “multiplex ecu” failure? A $600 CDN cost on warranty said the dealer. Could be that the more optioned trucks need different controller components

Sorry i got this notice late, but I'm US and it was listed as a separate item on the build sheet for the heated wheel.

With the supply shortages, it seems like it would make sense to build one leather steering wheel and include the heating element in all of them. Probably wishful thinking on my part. Very interested to see if anyone has added the switch and got it working. Do we know if the heated steering wheel is on its own fuse?

I’ll take a gander at the fuse boxes and see if there is already a fuse in place or its missing.

I still haven’t mustered up the courage to purchase the $70+ switch yet. One of these days I’ll pull the trigger though.

Mine works better than any others I have had before. The seat heaters even more so.

If you can find the part numbers for the steering wheels in Toyota’s system, that seems like an easy way to derisk. Ideally pull the steering wheel off and look for a heating wire harness, but not sure id have the confidence in my ability to do that and trust I could get it back on lol!

The steering wheel frame may be standardized, but I highly doubt they would build the heating elements into non-heated steering wheels.

Yeah, it makes sense to do so. Me being me, I would probably deploy the airbag screw something up doing it. lol

I pulled every steering wheel part number and description. Some descriptions are not fully viewable without scrolling. From what I can tell, there is only one steering wheel part number for TRD Pro. Every other leather steering wheel appears to have a heated and non-heated part number. There go my dreams for adding heat to my frozen fingers :(

Can we buy just the heating element? Then just reapply the leather wrap?
