Plus having a dedicated super small PLB with low battery consumption is a huge benefit when out for 6-10 days without access to resupply or chargers

And this is why it's a cult. The damage and inferiority are clear, but the zealots still can't let it go.

 

I had an android once for about eight months. It got unstable after about six months and after a few months of it deciding when it wanted to work, it got accelerated into a rock wall.

Alphabet’s and Apple’s business model are very different, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. I think the user’s budget and needs generally decides what works best for them. Although there are small pockets in each camp that are all “phuk the other” for no real reason other than playground politics.

For me, stability and security are critical. Apple is significantly better on both fronts, so I nut up and buy an expensive phone every 4-5 years that is a few years behind Android. I laugh that Apple’s “Five year” business strategy is titled “What is Android Doing Today”.
