Things are gonna get quiet around here now. 9 roosters and 3 turkeys, today.
I warned em. I told em to shut up or they’re gonna end up in the pot.

I sure do like the mechanical plucker. People should not be allowed to buy one till they’ve done it by hand for a few years…

You do know that they sell pre-plucked chickens at the grocery store, right?

The grocery store I go to also has a Starbucks in it and free wifi. I can wander around sipping on my froo froo girl scout drink, listening to the latest Taylor Swift jam while picking out my pre-plucked chicken. :)

Last week when I went shopping, there was a lady giving free samples of some seltzer in the liquor dept. and I heard Olivia Newton John playing on the piped in music.

Alcohol and ONJ > coffee and T. Swift. I win the grocery store battle this time.

I'll give you the alcohol. ONJ isn't really my thing. Let's call it a draw.

No argument here, though I can appreciate the oldies at times. Her music style doesn't really do anything for me though.

True, but they weren't giving away free shots of whiskey, so I took what was offered.

They really should give away shots of whiskey. It'd be a great loss leader. Look how much money Amazon makes from people drunk online shopping. Imagine what a grocery store would do if they got people drunk as they came in the door. Shit, they'd clean out the snack aisles if they handed out joints at the door.

Finished high school in Tucson in ‘73 and started working for a landscaping company. Moved to the Verde valley and worked ranches, mostly clearing trails and building fence. Got into construction and stayed with it for 30+ years working in the worst of the heat tract housing in Phoenix, sewage plants in Yuma and Florence , spent a year in Death Valley. Got more skin cancers cut off than I remember. I just got tired of the sunshine. Really really tired of it. Plus, we tried growing stuff, seriously gardening; orchard trees died. So much work for so little produce. Here things are green! Water is everywhere, food volunteers! I have a hazelnut orchard producing after only 3 years and it doesn’t need to be irrigated. We froze over 12 gallons of berries (raspberries, Marion berries, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries) from our own property. One of the pear trees produces over 400lb of pears in a good year. Most of the things I miss about Arizona I already missed 10 years before I left because of the population growth.
If I do come visit I absolutely would hook up and spend some time with you guys! I enjoyed the T2S year 2 & 3. It’s a good thing to meet up and put real faces to the avatar!
I had a canoe rental thing on the Verde, and I guess I miss the stretch through the wilderness area between Childs and Bartlett reservoir, but now my back is so bad I can’t hardly get into or out of a canoe, lol
