At least the timing belt looks awesome.

Nah, I'm good. It's not my stuff, as long as it's not something that's gonna hurt someone else or ruin something nice, what right do I have to shit bricks? :D

I know you're ribbing, but in all seriousness, my mantra is "You do you. As long as it's not gonna hurt other people or ruin stuff for others, go for it".

If more people had this mentality, we'd be in a hell of a lot better place. People can't seem to stay out of other people's business these days.

Honestly, there are really tasteful grippy adhesive sandpaper strips for that, the quality ones cost a bit but they look OEM+ when installed thoughtfully.

I will say though, I am curious to see how they hold up to 1st strike.

$300 for prep and spray + tax. Having never powder coated anything before, I'm not sure if this was expensive or a good deal. I was very happy with the turnaround time, however. Exciting to finish up. They were an awesome company to work with.

Don't worry, that irony was not lost on me when I picked them up and they helped me delicately load them into the bed of my truck.

Definitely reasonable for a nice job. I think I pay around 200-300 for each bumper I've had PC'd but that's cash to billy so I think it was on the low side. And I expect Cali to be more than the rest of the world.

I’m probably dropping my tube bumper off on Tuesday, he quoted me 150$ I was stoked……. He also said he’s been waiting for me to come in! Hahah he’s like two doors down from my work so he always sees the truck drive by. He’s got a 2nd gen DCLB taco with ADS on all corners.

Got her all buttoned up earlier, and no extra bolts! Added a few other things while I was in there. By the way, the new coil packaging is huge. Got one for the glove box and had to just throw it in a ziplock to fit

I was running into the same issues you had with the fan clutch. I’ll definitely be ordering new bolts when I do my timing belt because I know what’s going to happen.
Also note how long it takes to turn that green belt- black. I think PHM literally feather dusted his engine bay because his stayed green for as long as he remained here!

Good call on ordering new bolts. I started to go hulk on it, but cooler heads prevailed. I'll order some as well and get it swapped another day, its an easy enough job.

So this probably is dumb to a lot of people but I like the idea of updating my 1st gen with 'factory' components. Today I put a radio out of a 2018 in my 03 Limited.
Next step comes the steering wheel controls and backup camera. Hopefully it all works.

    Lots of people do it.
I felt like I was driving a space ship when I moved @Voss truck closer to main camp one day as dusk settled over the valley. I was impressed with the radio and backup camera setup for sure!

    Question-time...
What happened/was happening that warranted a new tensioner?
Did you do the fan clutch for the hell of it? Or was it starting to fail?
Those camseals still crowdin up your space and causing you grief?

I must've done mine at least a year or more ago now. It's still green. Those damn Gates HD belts are awesome.

I think @empty_lord probably takes the title of king for all of this. He's going hardcore OEM+ on his truck.

I can't find the issue in his last post. What happened to the fan clutch? Mine is 21 years old now and will likely need replacement soon.

    Butterfly impact?

Are they using threadlock for safety, maybe heat would help?

(I wonder what the FSM says?)

belt was chirping, even after a new one. When I searched you toobe I only found one result that changed the tensioner. Everybody else was just swapping the pulley on the tensioner. I don’t notice any more tension in the new one than the old one had. Bet a pulley would have fixed it. Fan clutch was for the hell of it. If you want those cam seals, I’ll send them your way bud. Came across them today

My fan clutch nuts came off with the studs also. I could dig up pictures from crackies thread, but pressed for time currently

I had to use some other nuts to get the original nuts off.

With the belt off, the idler pulley was smooth and could not tell a difference in rolling resistance between the old and new. The old tensioner pulley had more resistance and didn’t feel as smooth as the new one. So maybe it was the culprit? And yes, the nuts on the fan clutch were welded on and made of some form of veal infused alloy.

Little Tundra is putting in that work. Logged another 140+ miles today. Picked up a sofa and ottoman with my wife. Nothing crazy, but really diggin’ not having to hook up the trailer for these quick runs.

Had a 150 mile road trip in the old girl today.

noticed the 2-3 shift is getting pretty slow and slippery. Better prepare for the worst…

really debating a manual swap. Lots of work, but MAN would it be cool.

I would love adaptive cruise. That would be super awesome. Only have one AT and that’s for sure the #1 feature I miss compared to the odyssey. BSM wouldn’t suck either.

Okay, yes please. As much as I appreciate you kickin em down, I am really not lookin forward to installing them, so no rush. Actually, installing them is cake, after removing everything on top and in the front of the engine. I’m kicking myself for not changing them out when I did the timing belt/water pump job. Anyways, you still have my addy?

We like em, on our 4th set through multiple vehicles at the house. Been down the “try em out” rabbit hole with the BF Goodrich, Cooper, Goodyear, and Michelin products for a while, and these seem to work for us. Pricing however kinda sucks, as I’ve seen a steady increase over the years.
