Auxito H4s perform really well

Because I am by nature a tight wad and not wanting to drop $700-$1200 on OEM, Form Lighting or Morimoto LED headlights for my Tundra my journey to improve my lights went like this: SilverStar Ultras…ugh, 10% better than stock halogens, Philips crystal Vision Platinums…50% better than stock and way better than the SilverStars for less money, LasFit Pros (Tundra specific fitment) DID NOT FIT! sent them back for a full refund (LasFit is a great company)Being frustrated I was ready to order OEM TRD Pro LEDs but came across the Auxito Gen 2 H4 LED bulbs and for $60 thought I’d give them a chance. These are as simple as installing the stock halogens…and they do a great job. No weird shadows or bright spots, they are very bright yet caused no one to flash me. No error codes or warning lights. The fan is inside the headlight housing and you can only hear it when standing in front of the truck. Silent inside the cab. So far so good!

 

Can definitely vouch for these! They're a whole worlds better, but obviously we're going to see people say "Don't use LED in halogen housings!!!!"

Honestly, they work and illuminate so much better than the halogen bulbs.

 

How far North do you live? Do they ice up, or does the inner fan heat the headlight enough to melt ice and snow?

 

I live in Ohio. Truth is my Tundra is my tow vehicle for our camper and is stored during the winter except when I am tinkering with it which isn’t often. So I can’t answer your question because I don’t drive it in nasty winter weather. I did have a concern about the fan being inside the headlamp and the housing getting too hot. I contacted Auxito before I purchased them and they said the bulb itself can reach 190 degrees F. I thought that sounded pretty hot but found out that is on par with standard halogen bulbs, which have no fan. The Auxito Rep. said after extensive testing in numerous applications there were no reports of damage caused by the heat generated by their bulbs. I doubt that these bulbs would keep any headlight clear of ice and snow any better than the halogens do.

 

I meet people regularly on the road blinding the shit out of me with LEDs in halogen headlights. I am not knocking this particular setup but it is an issue In many applications.

 

Thanks, I ll price oem leds at the dealer tomorrow, but might just try the Auxito first just in case they do the job.

 

I know what you are talking about. Many times people get the bulb orientation wrong but that is impossible to do with these bulbs. They go in exactly like the halogens. One great thing is we can adjust the height of the headlights on our Tundras. I left mine adjusted to the highest position and drove around for half hour or so encountering many vehicles and no one flashed me. I then dialed them a little lower just to be certain they aren’t causing any problems for oncoming drivers. I am fairly certain that the Auxitos excellent beam pattern and the correct height adjustment will not cause any issue with those driving towards me. If they do, then I will pony up the $600 and go with OEM LEDs.

 

I think most are buying the cheapest bulb they can find and probably do not have a cut off period.

 

Dan, I'm going to give these a shot....are the ones you listed the latest? I'm seeing some 30,000 and 40,000LM Auxito bulbs listed in the H4 config, not sure if there is something I'm missing?

Thanks for the insights and the posting here, I want brighter beams but suffer from 'cheap-ass' as well.

 

Here is a picture of my Amazon purchase. It says they are 20,000 Lumen, which imo is plenty bright. Stock halogens are like 700 or 900 Lumen. Auxito has several different styles of H4 bulbs but these are the latest ones which replicate the standard halogen size, mounting plate and has the cooling fan inside the headlight housing. Their other styles have external fans and look nothing like this and I cannot attest to their performance. Also I submitted a review on another site and one guy responded that he has had his in his car for 3 years (probably the early version) and they are still working great. Btw, Amazon is still offering the $11 coupon you see in the middle of the listing…so $59.79 plus tax.

Anyway you can pull up to a wall or garage door and show a cutoff line? I know cheap LED bulbs have a ton of light scatter. Seems that’s the difference with the high end LEDs, they have a nice safe cutoff line. Which translates to not being an a-hole on the highway

 

Yep, a pretty crisp cut off line on the low beams. They look a little yellowish in this photo but they are bright white for sure. Old iPhone SE camera doesn’t shoot too well at night.

 

I can vouch for the brand. Every bulb I’ve bought for the truck from Auxito has been great. I don’t have the headlight bulbs but I have pretty much everything else from them through Amazon.

 

That does look nice. I was hesitant to buy them for that reason.

 

I just installed some of their dome/map lights in my truck and it’s at least 10x brighter.

I just installed the same Auxito bulbs in my 2015 1794 Crewmax. PITA to access the bulbs but a HUGE difference in lighting. Very happy with the result & highly recommended.

 

Yep, not one of Toyota’s better ideas. Thank god for YouTube videos on how to change a Tundra’s headlight bulbs. First of my 9 Tundras I have done this to. My 4Runners were a piece of cake.

 

Yeah, I get that. I get lots of people flashing at me, but then again, why are you looking at my headlights vs looking down at the road?

I'm sure that in the drivers license handbook do tell you to look at the top right corner of your vehicle whenever there are light shining at you.

 

I find my low beams just aren't bright enough. Not sure if they should be adjusted to point higher, or if I should switch to something better like this? Whereas if i I flip on the high beams, there is plenty of light.

The bright lights I see on the road I think are those that leave their high beams on.

 

Your lights are preventing their clear vision of the road. That's why.

 

Not necessarily. You should still be looking away and at the top corner of your vehicle to ensure you're still in the lane.

 

When an LED is put in a headlight not designed for LEDs, it doesn’t matter where I look as I still get blinded. Yes, I am keenly aware to look away however I can’t see because of the reflectors in the headlight and the wrong bulb.

I would suggest swapping vehicles with someone and try driving with your truck coming in the opposite direction. Let us know how that works.

 

I did not try Auxito, but I tried 2 brands of LED bulbs in the halogen housings, neither with great results. I gave in and purchased factory Toyota LED lamps and harness from @iHacker. The picture @BulldogDan posted looks like a better beam pattern than I had.

 

I ordered a pair and will see how it goes.

I also learned my truck has a dial on the dash to adjust the height of my lights! Sad it took me 1.5 years to find that.

 

Just installed the Auxito, latest upgraded version, very bright, very nice cutoff (you won t blind anyone) in low beam, plug and play (no separate driver or wires to mess with), I have separate daytime running light strips so not sure if conventional drl that drop voltage to 6 volts to low beams would work, and the cooling fan is in the headlight housing so it should stay warm preventing ice and snow buildup (smart design):

Nice. I am going to hold out for some longer term reviews. See if they are still going strong and not causing any problems 6 months from now.

 

The early leds did not have their light emitting diodes at the exact same spot as the halogens have their filaments, therefore the headlight would spread light in haphazard directions, projecting nothing and just annoying other drivers. New leds are very close in size to halogens, and the light is emitted from the same spots and work well with the existing headlight assemblies. Therefore clean projection and 5x more light with a lower power consumption.

 

While this maybe true, I am still getting blinded on a regular basis. I suspect some headlights, regardless of design, will cause the oncoming driver to be blinded. I fully expect you to get flashed regularly with your new bulbs.

LED will never produce light in the same manner as a halogen bulb, it’s the nature of the design.
