Ah - ya I wonder if the TRD wheels are wider than the platinum. Very possible so that could be the difference. Mine are 20 inch as well, but maybe the platinum stock wheels are a bit narrower. I am jealous I would have really liked 35 x 12.5s on mine. So many options! But I really didn’t want new wheels. I am a fan of the stock+ look.

Exactly what I was thinking. I have a 2021 TRD Pro and the parts look the same...

The 22 pros use fox shocks with the rezzies, if they are anything like the tacoma trd pro fox shox, they are pretty nice off road with small bump compliance. The tundra trd lift kit it comes with bilsteins, never tried them but not sure if they'd be as compliant as the fox shocks. After having the fox shocks on my tacoma, I'd kind of like the same setup on my tundra. It's my only reservation on getting the trd kit for my tundra.

Well I need to get some better pics, but here’s just a few. It looks great in person and much bigger than the pictures convey I think. Also I think I have the slightest Carolina Squat going on… assuming because they used the highest setting up front. Wondering if I need to adjust to middle setting. But I also haven’t put a tape measurer on it, so just guessing.

Dang that looks nice! Think you choose well keeping those wheels - and the truck color is dope. How's the ride feel?

    Any poke?

Honestly it feels the same as stock. Which I personally think is a really good thing. I thought the truck rode great before. I think the extra stiffness I was initially feeling is the tires with the new E load rating. They are less forgiving than the original stock tires. However, it is still a smooth ride. Feels incredible planted and connected to the road despite the additional ground clearance. Some lifted vehicles feel "floaty" in my experience, but that is not the case with this one. Overall super pleased with how it drives and rides. I haven't done any off-roading testing, so can't comment there, but so far, on road manners are VERY good. It's a fantastic blend of getting the great look I wanted, while maintaining a very nice smooth ride.

And no, there is 0 poke with the wheels and tire set up. Stock rims with 285/65R20.

I guess I should add the tires are Falken Wildpeak AT3s

I know this thread pertains the 3rd Gen's but TRD should make an equivalent kit for 2-2.5 Gen's. Don't hold my breath?!?!

What is your current truck height (at shark fin antenna) after install? I'm about to order the kit and will probably add a 34" tire. I believe my stock tires are just under 33" and I only have five inches between my shark fin antenna and the my garage door opening. Thanks.

I think they are mistaken. My dealer quoted me $1400 for install, it ended up taking way longer than they thought, thankfully they honored the original quote. There are a lot of components and they were not anticipating that. I would be willing to bet that your dealer is in the same boat. Just my thought. I would ensure they will honor their original quote. @bballjames ran into a similar issue and they tried to up charge for additional adjustments the dealer did not originally know they had to do. Thankfully, they ended up honoring their price with some push back.

Ya, I think the kit is pretty extensive in replacement parts. Maybe it is a 14-15 hour job for someone who has worked on these new trucks day in day out for a year - but since they are so new, no one has that level of experience yet. I think there is a steep learning curve and takes them much longer since they have to learn how these come apart and work.

I can vouch for that. I looked over the install instructions before I dropped mine off at the dealership. I knew my truck was the first one they did because they didn't even know Toyota had a lift kit for the Tundra when I bought it. The Friday morning I took it in for the install, they said they'd have it done by the end of the day. I told them it would probably take at least two days. I let them know that I was in no hurry, and they could take their time to use it as a learning experience. They did have it done by the end of the day on Saturday.

This might be a stupid question but according to that chart, the technicians "turn off" something based on the tire size? Unless you put after market tires on during installation, how do they know what size tires you're putting on? I only ask because I will be getting the lift installed soon but won't be putting on tires until a few days/weeks later because I have to make sure it still fits in my garage. As of now with my stock truck, there's only five inches from the sharkfin antenna to the top of my garage entrance.

"PCS" is the pre-collision system. If the lift will exceed four inches based on the added tires they are instructed to turn it off. If you don't exceed 35s (285 75 R18s being an outlier) you should be good to go. In this case you should be able to put the tires on after without issue. If you do exceed 35s you're probably not fitting in your garage anymore, and you will have to turn of the PCS.

Just measured mine. It is about 81 and a half inches, so 82 inches to be safe.

Well, my dealer doing the install has had my truck almost 2 weeks! Ha. TBH, its not a big deal to me and they had the holidays + broke their suspension spring compressor + nicked one of my wheels (which they are fixing). So...2 weeks, with 10 working days and assume the tech is there 8 hours a day...so 80 hours.

JK, but kinda funny. One day i assume I will get it back and it will be glorious.

Does it not work properly above that lift height (assuming it can’t be recalibrated/re-aimed)?

…and is this something you can ask them to keep it on so to speak (probably requires another waiver)

I’ll be going from Westcott (3/1 setup) to this lift (3/2) and I am riding on 295/70s…right on that border.

PCS has activated in my truck before due to knuckleheads on the interstate so I would like to keep it.

When I had mine done, they were kind of explaining this. I don't think the PCS is something that can be aimed, unlike the radar cruise control etc. Not sure if it is due to it using some fixed in place components like the front camera maybe that cannot be adjusted? It might have also had something to do with the bumper height... not totally sure, but that's partly why I went with the tire size I did.

As he said above it is the fixed location issue. PCS doesn’t run off front camera, but the sensor located in the grill. There is no way to aim or move it. I am not sure if it straight up won’t work, or they can’t guarantee its accuracy. I would ask the techs to get more info. I also would encourage to not go over 35s. The hit to MPGs and the additional trimming involved is not worth it. Even with this lift you will most likely have to trim and mod to clear anything large than 35s and not rub at full lock, stuff, or articulation. Unless it’s solely about the aesthetic of the large tires, it’s not practical IMHO.

I just realized, doesn't this make the TRD Pro Fox shocks a no-go for non-HEV models?

Sure, but if stick with me. Here's my logic:
    - The TRD Lift kit has two different spring seat positions (gas vs. HEV), presumably, to accommodate the different vehicle curb weights (best I can see is ~625 lbs between SR5 and TRD Pro. The HEV seat is higher b/c the vehicle is heavier and the spring is compressed more at rest.
    - The TRD Pro Fox shock has a spring seat position to the HEV curb weight (since TRD Pros are only HEV).
    - Thus if you put TRD pro shocks on a gas vehicle (lower curb weight) the vehicle would sit higher.
Maybe I have it wrong but this was how I was thinking about it.

ah, I didn't realize you had a non-HEV Platinum. Yes, Wescott is a good option for the rear. very cool. Looking forward to your reveal.

@R2theD2 Man that seems like a long install. The book is like 15 hours but like I put in my post our master tech did the install in one day and all the camera alignments in about 3 hours the next day. It was his first installation of the kit. You may want to start pinging them and get your truck home.

Yeah, It is ridiculous. I actually called them this morning. I was overly patient as I hadn't been available to pick it up anyway, so didn't put them in a rush, but told them this was getting frustrating. The thing that really makes me unhappy about it is the advisor kept telling me they were going to send me pictures of the skid plate (so I could ensure it was correct) and etc and never did. For all I know it is ready today. Will post update once I got the thing back.

Update: Tires go back on Monday and then the alignment and safety sense calibration- should have her home Tuesday. And they did the skid plate right.
