The combination of insurances I have to carry is where things get complicated for me. I’ve never been able to realize significant price differences every time I have shopped it. $10-20/month difference max.

Honestly, when I hit the deer, most of the experience was good - but that was mostly the body shop’s doing. They got me in for an estimate 3 weeks faster than any other shop would (because they are a preferred shop for the insurance), and they actually had the parts to start work within a week. The Allstate “online claim” process and lowball initial estimate that they wanted to deposit into my bank account turned me off - I honestly don’t think I talked to a human through the entire process except at the body shop.

I’ll research them. Thanks for the info.

we did call the other drivers insurance directly today, got a claim started directly with them as well. They were pleasant to deal with, took my daughter’s statement, tried to get ahold of the other driver in three different numbers to get his statement (no answer). They promised to call us back in two days.

Of course, both sides want a police report number, and we’re told that could be 1-2 weeks before it is available. The car is only worth $7k or so…2011 Subaru Impreza sedan with 150k miles. So it’s a no brainier for them to just total it out and walk away.

Anyway, we’ve got momma a “new” one tonight for a great price, so the kid can start making payments to buy the ‘17 Forester from us.

Nice find! That'll keep everyone rolling, and the rest will just take some time to filter through the red tape.

I knew of Mr. Block, but didn't follow. I'm sad for his loved ones, and I know he did a lot to popularize motorsports. Perhaps it's a blessing for him to not have to witness it's death by regulation and mandate in the name of green.

    Yeah.
Not happy about double car payments right now, but I’m at 1.9% on the Tundra so we’ll pay this new one off first. I guess I now know what I’m spending my recent raise on…

The only 29 I’ve seen was my Sis-in-law kicking my brother’s ass. Worst part is that it was only the second time she had ever played the game.

Yeah, the financial burden is definitely not ideal. Hopefully the insurance will hurry up and you can use that bit of money to speed up the pay off process.

Wow...that's quite the back story to how I ended up w/a set of take-offs from your new Tundra to put on my '08; thank you again for those! :hattip:

I'm assuming no injuries or very minor injury from the wreck?? If so, I have to say that's quite a bit of damage, and it looks like the truck did its job protecting you during the incident!

Kinda surprised cops didn't issue a cite for the failure to yield, which would have helped considerably w/the insurance issues... seems like lazy police work to me:notsure:

I've had Allstate since I was 18 on cars and homes... Back (and several years later) then there was a branch of the company called Allstate Indemnity or something like that. Anyhow, service through that branch of the company was exceptional, but they slowly phased that branch out and then started trying to 'encourage' policy holders to move to 'new policies' within Allstate through enticing incentives. Those of us that held out and kept our policies were eventually forced out and into the mainstream policies that were available through the 'new' Allstate policies that were available. Since then, service has and representation has gone down significantly. :(

Hey! I should have held onto those for a set of winter tires, started regretting it after I could stuck in the snow out in Tillamook a month ago haha. Glad you're getting good use out of them.

The hit knocked me silly for a minute, but no lasting concussion symptoms - I've had at least 5 in my life, 1 knocked me out for a few seconds so I'm trying to be more careful about shots to my head as I get older. Other than that it was just seatbelt and airbag rash/burn, then smashing my shins on the dash hurt the worse. It was a hard enough it to flip the review mirror around backwards.

It really made me appreciate just how awesome the safety is in these modern vehicles. All things considered it couldn't have been a better accident getting hit in the drivers side front corner like that. There was a steering wheel, side curtain, seat bolster AND under steering wheel airbag that I sort of just fell into. It's like a bomb going off inside the cab, but holy shit it is effective at saving you.

The police report did say it was the fault of the other driver, but insurance said it was just his word against mine with no witnesses or other evidence. Who knows if that's right, but I was so busy that summer with other shit and didn't want to consult with a lawyer. Just wanted the check and it to be done with.

That makes sense... The benefit to the cite is that it requires the officer to have probable cause, which has a higher 'burden of proof' than 'fault' in a civil issue (which has a significantly less burden of proof using the preponderance of evidence standard)... but all that is neither here nor there at this point.

So, you put it out there, so now I've gotta ask... How the heck are you getting your head banged up so much???

I guess I'll have to start taking pictures of the cribbage hands me and Mom get. We break 20 pretty decently, and I even had a ridiculous crib a month ago. Don't remember if it was 24 or 26. We were both giddy seeing it.

I think Toyota monitors this forum, and that they love trolling their customers. Just look at the latest "my DTE is wrong"/ "How big is my fuel tank" thread(s). It never ends, and some guy at Toyota is watching and laughing. I'm sure of it.

You need to send some of that my way. Before my wife got the 28 we were scoring less than 10 consistently in that game. Your crib had to be 24 since 26 is the same as 19. A few fun facts. For reference a hole in one in golf has 1 in 12,500 odds.

    Cribbage 29 Hand!

The highest possible cribbage hand score is 29 points -- three Fives and a Jack in hand with the starter card (or cut card) being a Five of the same suit as the Jack - for "One For His Nobs".
The chances of getting this highest possible 29 Cribbage hand are 1 in 216,580!

    Cribbage 28 Hand

This 2nd highest scoring cribbage hand can happen with any combination of Ten or Jack or Queen or King for a cut card combined with four Fives in hand except the above 29 hand
The chances of getting this 28 Cribbage hand are 1 in 15,028.

    Cribbage 24 Hand

The 3rd highest cribbage hand is 24 Examples include: Ace with four Sevens, Nine with four Threes, etc.

    Impossible Cribbage Hand Scores

It is impossible to get point scores of 27, 26, 25 and 19 for a cribbage hand. There is no possible combination of 5 cards that will produce the above point totals. In over-the-board cribbage, sometimes a Cribbage player will score zero points for their hand if they claim that they have a "19 hand".

    Cribbage Hands' Stats

There are 12,994,800 possible cribbage hands if the cut card variations are included. Mathematically, the average hand score is calculated as 4.77 points. In the real hand statistics, however, the average hand point score is higher as cribbage players excersize control over their hands when they discard.

    Dealer and Pone Average Hands

As the dealer tries to maximize the score in both the hand and the crib, the average hand for the dealer is lower than the average hand for pone. Statistics show that real Dealer's hands averages 7.95 points and the Pone's hand: 8.10 points.

    18" TRD Off Road Wheels
Well there you go then. I didn't know there were impossible hands. LOL We just play.

Saw a single 29 back a decade or two. My Mom and sister were playing at hunting camp IIRC. Not sure who got it, but I remember it being a big deal. I barely played at that point, so the specialness was lost on me. According to Mom, I have an uncle who is stupid lucky and has 29s a few times. I have no way to verify this, but I don't have much reason to doubt it either.

Those average hands seem incredibly low. We feel cheated and like the game is moving slow if we aren't getting dozens and 10s on a semiregular. Some games we are getting pitiful hands though, and we accuse each other of shuffling the cribbage out of the deck.

That's the opposite of how I would have expressed it.

Sometimes my dad will say he scored 19 when he has nothing in his hand. His other favourite expression is "fegus machem" (sp?), which means dried figs.
