I picked up this 2004 for $550

$550? Is it missing an engine and transmission? That’s super cheap.

 

That, or someone owed him money and paid the debt off with Grandpa's truck

No I just had to fix 5 things on it and it has ran perfect for 3 years until recently and now I need to know if any of you had worked on a 2004 Tundra on the transaxle mainly

 

What happened I was driving on the highway when it lost power, I pulled ove and popped the hood and saw 3 small fires underneath put them out and towed it back, put it up on jack stands to take a quick look, the trans axle plate looks like ot through oil and got on the wire which caught fire'

 

So fire damage is why you got it back as a salvaged vehicle for $550? I guess that makes sense.

these trucks have a traditional transmission/transfer case setup with front and rear differentials. No transaxles.

 

I'll buy it off you for $700.

But in all serious, I agree. Pictures will help a lot to help diagnose the exact issue.

As stated, these trucks don't have a trans-axle configuration. Are you referring to the front differential, transfer case, or?

 

No I had it for 3 years after I fixed the problems it had the fire was just last week

 

i you do 24K it could be yours

 

And when I get a vehicle, I always get the dealers service mechanical . not the vechile manual
The things I had to fix on this truck when I got it was the fuel guage, the rear end was rebuilt the sunroof was fixed and the heater switch. Thats was all that it needed and ran good until what happened last week, I haven't had the time to do a full investigation from the fire yet.

 

2.4k you pay shipping, its fire damaged wiring. I need a harness at minimum.

 

where are you located and if you want it for 2400 US it depends on the shipping

on with it and brought cash with me and he accepted my offer.

Guess he gave up on getting it to work or there’s some other gremlin you haven’t found yet.

Hello, you guys Issami and des2mtn are correct. I have a Cadillac with a transfer problem yet that I need to work on.
The Tundra after investigating more does not look good and any advise would be helpful please

 

Looks like the actuator for front differential. Is that the only place damaged? More pictures would help.

I have not seen where the leek came from yet but wiil find I know its not from then engine so far
