So I’ve searched and read through various topics and imagine I could just keep replacing parts or see if anyone might have experienced the same issue or can point me in the right direction.

    Issue
Belt squeals horribly…sounds like death. This happens when the key is inserted and truck turned on quickly.
Does not happen if I let the key sit in the “on” position for 2 seconds (I may still get a small chirp, but no squeal).

***Also, I must let the truck warm up. If I don’t wait until it warms up and start driving, belt will begin to squeal bloody murder.

    Troubleshooting
I have changed the belt, belt tensioner and idler pulley with no luck.

I came across a video where this was an issue with a corolla, but no information on root cause and how to correct it.

Would love to hear what you guys think.

    Thanks,
    D

Condensation will cause this which is normal with ribbed belts. I remember long ago in another forum people would worship them Gatorback belts, since it allowed condensation to be removed easily from the belt and reduce noise. If it really bothers you, maybe look into these. Worst case its a coolant leak, but itbsounds more like condensation trapped in the belt.

It's a bit more helpful for those of us offering advice if you provide a little more detail about your vehicle... IE>> Year, trim level and mileage, as they may affect the advice given or the direction we point you to look. Anyhow, here are 2 places to check:

I've had similar issues w/non-OEM belts on my '08. Within a couple days of dealer installing a new belt horrible squealing. Did some heavy poking into it, and they finally admitted to using a 'napa' belt (but left part # and price the same on invoice); anyhow had them order OE belt and upon install issue was resolved.

The other direction I'd point you is to look into the AC clutch. Those things will sound horrible when they start to go out and is usually a sign they are about to seize up.

    good luck!!!

Did you spin every pulley with the belt off to make sure they felt smooth?

The system is all mechanical so a link to the key is kinda hard to believe.

My belt start squeaking, a shot of windex to wet it when running made it quit. A new belt from Toyota fixed the problem for good. All my pulleys rotated nice and smooth (the ones you can turn by hand)

Also make sure the belt is fit in all pulley ribs properly

Thank you for all the responses.
As for truck info, I have a 2010 DC 4x4 SR5. Mileage is 165K. I will be taking the belt off again and checking all pulleys and will report back.

Come to think of it, maybe the belt tensioner... I broke my Celica's belt tensioner bolt and it was squealing to the high heavens... It was more prominent when I turned the steering wheel, idk why.. Took it to the stealership, because I had just moved to a new place and sort of wanted a warranty and it was my only car....they informed me it was the tensioner bolt that broke off..
