I was gonna just walk away and let him flounder, but @RobertD posted with some help and that reminded me that this is a community. Barring absolute asshattery, we should help if we can.

So, hear me out, do what I'm doing. Quit looking at cars. If that's hard, put a penalty on being weak. Every time you slip up and go look at a different vehicle/watch a video review and feel tempted, it costs you a dollar. Not a huge jar, so it will fill up from time to time. When it fills up, you put all of it toward the principal on your Taco loan. No mods, no robbing it to fund midnight munchies or gas money. Only to the principle. You'll feel a pinch, and be slightly less in debt.

That's a good thing. You'll be out of debt in no time. You'll starve, but you won't have a truck note!

Anyway, you implement that to curb yourself and you just refuse to purchase another vehicle until this one is paid off. It helps with control, and it also gets you paid off faster so you can still change up rigs if you want.

I make lots of jokes (and slip up like yesterday) but this time I actually do feel like I can hold on to it a while. Something about tacomas makes me keep them longer than other vehicles :D

That was a lot of jest on my part as well. I'm absolutely loving the Taco. I've seen two cars in person that I either lust after or miss getting rid of, and I'll be damned if I don't just shrug and move on. Strangest thing, but I don't want anything else. It's got the capability for snow/off road of the Tundra, the easy driving and convenience features of the Renegade, and a sporty fast feel like the WRX. The perfect amalgamation of my last 3 vehicles (everything I've had since 2017) and I adore it. With the solid drop in payment size from the Tundra I am also putting extra down every payment so I can be out of debt faster. Just made my first payment this week and can't wait to see that balance start dropping.

Yeah, big trucks have their purpose but if you don't need one midsized trucks are the way to go. I'm glad to hear you're liking yours so much!

The longest time I’ve outright owned any vehicle was my Tundra. I had it five years. I believe I sold it with around 34k on it.

We have requested his reporting abilities be blocked. He’s reporting every reply to you all :annoyed:

You've never driven any vehicle for more than 5 years? First car I bought brand new I drove for 12 years. I guess I can't say much, as everything before and after that car has been a shorter span of ownership. Next would be the cummins 2500 I had at the same time. Not sure how many years I had that one, but it was at least 7 or 8.

Nope. When I was 16 I had shit cars (Escort, GTI) which had issues I would fix then sell. As I got older I just kept chasing faster vehicles, then got intro trucks (Silverado, Titan, Tacoma, Tundra, Tundra, then my Tundra became my Sunday vehicle so I had a DD for long work trips) and the cycle continued- minus a second vehicle (for me) as I have the wife’s vehicle.

Yeah, my first few cars were crap, and not even fun ones. That's what put me off buying used. Bought new and only slipped up and bought used once since then. Regretted it and I don't think I can do it again. People don't take care of their shit and are scumbag enough to hide issues and lie. Zero trust.

I don't buy used. Only way that'd happen would be for a second vehicle, and it'd have to have some serious draw to get me to pay for an extra plate and insurance.
