The best analogy yet was the couch hide-a-bed with the steel rail you have to sleep on! I'm still convinced is the mechanism around the 'cooled' seats or the seats are just crap. The cloth seats I tried last week were much better, thus looking for a Tundra with cloth seats or in 'discussions' with my wife about going back to a Tacoma.

For me the platinum has been good. From where I need it and soft where I need it.

TRD pro I complained about feeling the lumbar all the time, here I don’t.

More comfortable and better feeling than my f150 lariat and lightning lariat but I am also 80 pounds lighter than from when I’ve had those

Thanks everyone for the replies and thoughts. I went to a upholstery shop on Friday and explained my issues. The owner looked at the seat and pointed out the issue. If you feel back from the front to about where the seam is there is a steel 'pan' that ends where the springs begin. That pan is sharply bent 'up' I assume to stiffen it. That's what I'm feeling. He said he could take the seat apart and try and add more padding etc. However, I decided not mess with it on a $70K vehicle. So I sold the truck today and ordered a Lunar Rock Tacoma which should be in at the end of February. I guess I move over to the Taco Forums now :) This Tundra was truly the greatest vehicle I've ever owned from a technology and capability standpoint ... just couldn't sit in it for more than 30-45 min.

    Regards...

The only thing uncomfortable to me is the headrest, which pushes my head forward. I like to sit straight, and the headrest makes my posture that of australopithecus. I know it's the current trend in all manufacturers these days, but it just caters to the increasingly bad posture almost everyone has these days. My wife's Subaru headrest is awesome. It has adjustable tilt, so if you're h neanderthalensis, you can tilt it forward. If you're h sapians, you can adjust it all the way back. Something for everyone, I guess.

I tried this seat cover and didn't like it. It's too high and the thigh extender piece doesn't quite work with it... I think that at this point I got used to seat as is and will live with it. Maybe will speak with upholstery shop if there's any other options..

Y'all making me paranoid my 1794 is gonna be a granite slab. I take 18 hour trips, twice a year to visit family. That truck will cost me over $87k CDN and I have to buy something to tame the seat comfort? Not cool Toyota.
my 2012 Sierra SLE and the wife's Ridgeline were both amazing rides. I hope to hell this doesn't become a case of buyer's remorse.

You know seats will raise too? Don't know if that is your problem? I didn't know for about 2 months.

Hmmm...I haven't really driven my truck ('19 Platinum) in several months (cats were stolen) and I drove it today and was just thinking how comfortable the seats were compared to the 05 Tacoma I am driving.

You sold the truck rather than dump $200 into a seat alteration??? I got an island for sale you need to look at

I have a 1794 that I think the seats are great in. I drove straight through from Portland to San Diego with gas and piss stops only and have nothing but good to say about those firm leather seats in my Tundra. I am 5'10" 200 lbs.

Right with you. Our 1794 is comfy and I'm not small. 6 Hour drive back from Portland was extremely comfortable.

Attached email to answer the question I asked them if it’s okay to use the front or if it risks bending the rails

I think the mfg will say you can use them, but they bend the rails once you torque the bolts down if your using just fronts or just rears etc, this is laws of physics that you cant break.

last I checked they had a review or 2 that were stating that the website is misleading and you have to order both f/r sets otherwise the seat rails will get bent once you bolt them down flush/securely.

I also saw another complaint if you do use both f/r, then the seat wont be able to slide all the way through the travel because they put a washer that interferes with the seat to move through the entire travel.

I have now decided to machine my own lol, both front/rear will have matching slope angles, no such thing as lift 1 side higher then the other side - bolt it down flush and think you didnt bend something.

The headrests are not all like what you describe. I sat in a dealer trade 1794 that was perfectly normal. Then the wife and I test drove two SR5s where the drivers headrest was fine and the passengers was as you describe. That would have been an absolute deal breaker for her. We managed to find a dealer that had a 1794 on the lot to sit in (was already sold), and the headrests on that one were both normal. I'm hoping that when my 1794 gets here the headrests don't have that ridiculous forward lean, cause we won't be buying it if it does.

OK, I'm happy that you're happy with the seats.

But does your 1794 or Platinum driver seat has much padding or a pretty thin layer?

I test drive cloth seats f150 and the seat was very comfy and had plush padding with good support.
I've been driving my little Nissan n200 work van for the past few days and I got to say the seats are comfy and cushy.

In comparison, my 1794 Tundra seats are comfy but hard with very thin padding

I'm sorry ... I don't' need an island ... I needed a truck that I could sit in for long periods of time as I drive 35-45K a year. This wasn't it and for the price of the Truck I didn't see any reason to mess with it any longer. I've solved my problem and I'm happy with the solution.

    Thanks...

I think the padding is adequate. The seat is very firm, but, comfortable. 17 hrs in the seat and there was one little hot spot on my right glute, right near the seat belt. I have made that drive in a Lexus and was so stiff I could hardly move. When the drive was over in the Tundra I was pretty impressed with the quality and comfort of the drivers seat.

One issue that I've been having is that my right under knee area gets very sore if I extend the thigh extender on the seat. It feels comfortable when I extend the thigh extender, just like a recliner chair, but when I need to keep working that gas/break pedal my right leg under knee area gets pretty sore... And I have to retract the thigh supporter thing half way back.

    Anyone had similar experience?
