    Howdy,

I have been trying to decide on the best way to raise the front of my tundra about 1 inch and I thought this would be the perfect place to start.

I have a Tundra CM with xp mammoth package that comes with 20" wheels. I like the height fine but wanted to level a bit while still leaving a little bit of rake.

My plan was to use bilstein 6112's on the front but was wondering where I would set the spring to achieve the desired lift. I bet the tec that does the work would be a little unhappy if they had to be removed and adjusted. The truck already looks a little lifted to me but I see nothing added to the suspension. I have wondered if it has stock springs and shocks but I am unable to find anything to the contrary.

I hope that someone is able to help me with my delima. Am I even on the right track with using the 6112's? I'm thinking with this small amount of lift that nothing else needs to be done to the suspension.

    Looking forward to you're input....jp

We have a 2014 crewmax xp 4wd tundra with same package and wondered the same. We want to level ours but not lift it. Can u do a shock adjustment to raise the front just a tad? Does it have a lift or leveling on it since it has bigger tires and wheels?

You could buy my front level spacer to level the truck out. For sale in the market place.

image.jpg image.jpg Looks pretty much stock to me. But what do I know. I traded in my 2007 ridgeline which you can do nothing with. This is my first full size truck therefore there will be plenty of stupid questions. Please be gentle..

If your looking just to level it out a front small spacer will do the trick. 1.5 - 2" is what will do the trick. The spacer gets mounted with the coil so a spring compressor is needed to install.

I have the spacers for sale as a combination with my front struts if your interested. https://www.tundras.com/index.php?posts/27577/

Agree, I knew they weren't bilstein. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything else going on out of the ordinary so I would know what I'm working with. I did consider a spacer but also want the ride improvement everyone swears by with the 6112's. Two birds, one stone. Although with +$500 price tag over the spacers.

I will admit. I wanted a TRD but when you add leather, 20" tires and wheels the price tag gets up there. I will add the bilsteins 6112 on the front, 5160's on the rear and a trd sway bar and be happy...Maybe? Later this year, early 2016 I will slip on some duratrac's.

Already have the TRD skid on the way. So other than the exhaust and cai I should be in good shape. What else am I missing?

Ridgeline? Is that the Honda truck? Did you like it? Only one I ever seen that I liked had a lift wheels and tires and actually looked good!

Yes. I liked it ,rode and handled great. Right up until it decided to let me down. Had to replace a cylinder head on it with only 62k miles. It was performed by honda and I was given 12 mo warrenty but I suspect they may have turned it down a little to make sure they didn't have to deliver. Just didn't feel the same. Nice to have more hp than I need versus using all that I have.

I wasn't going to give it a chance to fail me again. Still got 15k in trade so I was happy. I am more than excited to have a full size truck. I haven't had a forward facing engine for nearly 30 years. I will miss the better fuel economy but pulling my trailer with a large zt mower after hitting the tow button puts a big smile on my face. Can't put a price on that. :)

Only the limited + editions have leather.

What are u missing in terms of the TRD setup? Nothing other than wheels that you haven't already covered, but it looks like u already have aftermarket wheels on.

Well, I did get leather and the 20" wheels with Tera grappler G2's on the XP mammoth. So a few parts here and there I will have an XPTRD. Does that make me an xperttard. Prolly so.......

Ok. Step 1 of upgrades complete. Removed the oem sp and installed the trd aluminum skid plate. Wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. Just a little over an hour to remove old and replace.

The next step will be the 6112's if they ever show up again. Is there anyone here that uses them? Would really like to be sure they offer the ride I'm looking for.

image.jpg Well, since the Bilstein's 6112's are still unobtainium, I went ahead and added the trd sway. Just finished , I haven't driven it just yet but based on all the reviews it should be a good addition. I wish it didn't look like an afterthought. The GM's and Dodge's I checked out had a factory look with the built in mounts.

I prefer the higher mount I have seen others do, but the bracket didn't lock onto the axle like it did underneath. I may still rotate it up but as 95% of my time is on hardtop, I doubt it will ever become a problem.

*edit...mods, if you think this would be better moved to the gen 3 builds, please move. Thanks.

Alrighty then. The rsb is a nice addition. Tightens the truck and makes for better handling. I give it a two thumbs up.

Now, back to where I started this thread for. Shocks. I have given it a lot of thought and I think I have decided on these. http://store.sdhqoffroad.com/07toyotatundrafrontcoiloversystem.aspx?variation=40756

Will make for a complete drop in and do away with the tear down and reassembly of the shock with current parts. And, now I have spares:thumbsup:

I got to thinking, $700 for the Bilstein's plus what, @300 for the spring assembly and installation. Now we are at 1 k, what's $300 more, right?

Not to discredit them, because I'm not familiar with them, but for that price you could have gotten the Toytec BOSS setup.

What's the plan with the rear? Or are you just going with a 1.5"-2" lift up front and stock in rear?

Alright, let's take a look. I don't plan on lifting the truck, only leveling the front. Have no intention of going reservoir's front or rear so I planned to go 2.5 on both.

Looking at the BOSS I am not able to gather much info other than they are their own build with their own valving. What size shock body? Looks like 2.0. Can you confirm? What's the ride like? Probably depends on the 650 or 700lb coilover.

It may sound silly to have 2k in 4 shocks just to level, but hopefully the investment will be worthwhile. Everything I read says the ride is good with potential on the occasion I may get off the asphalt.

The ride is 10x better than the 3/1 kit I had on my last one.

I'll have to check on the coil rating I have.

"I should have a flyer ready for the forums by the end of today. The event will be August 29th and we are having it at the park just south of Toytec. We are also incorporating a truck show and a fundraiser for Stay The Trail. I will send you over the flyer when I have it finished.

Thanks for the offer to help. I'm sure we can use all of the hands that we can get to setup and tear down."

If anyone else would would like to assist them/me with setup and tear down please let me know...
