Asshat drivers that stop on green, go on red, pull out of side streets in front of EMS, fire, and LEO, and generally just drive like no one else is on the road.

Todays annoyance (not a first time occurrence sadly) - thinking I’ve got a plan laid out, a good grasp of what I want and then someone/something coming along and blowing it all to shit (albeit in a good way - I think).

So I’ve posted all about my dilemma of taking a new job and making the move back to Ohio - it’s well documented here and no need to bump those. Talked to my new job and said I wanted to go back to Ohio like we talked about up front when I took the job. Sensing some flip/flopping in their part - I knew enough not to place complete faith in their words and decided to apply for a few other jobs just to be safe in case it all went down to shit.

Talked to 5 different places I think - actually liked 3 of them - but again everyone sounds good when they are interviewing you. Doing my research - 1 stood out greatly. Good company, people I met with (who would be my bosses) were straightforward and likeable and seem to have a head in their shoulders. Only “bad” part - its here in Carolinas and not Ohio. So poor me - I’d have to stay here - not move to dreary ass Ohio and enjoy the moderate temps and sunshine year round.

Well - current boss reached out yesterday and said basically he agreed company is playing games - but he’s committed to filling his promises made when I agreed to join his team. He thinks he has a way to shift me to Ohio and stay with him - honestly a refreshing attitude with someone following through on a promise and not just rolling over because some damn bean counter in a corporate office told them to save a dime.

Well today the one job I interviewed with and liked calls with a HUGE offer. By HUGE I mean 50% above current pay and 100% above what I was making 4 months ago. Full pension - zero cost health care and a 10% yearly profit share. Left my like “well shit - what do I do now”. I was all psyched to return “home” - I mean it’s not paradise by any means - but it is home - it’s where the people I call friends live and it’s close to the place that makes me happy.

So now it’s stay here - make a ton of $$ and enjoy the benefits of being overpaid or go home - make less and know the place I work for has shown signs they WOULD screw me over for a nickel (but I have a boss who wouldn’t). Of course bosses can leave in a second (or be canned) so no guarantees there - and reputation of the job here says they won’t go that route. But damn - I was ready for a change and now I’ve got a huge incentive to not make the move.

Tough choice - it’s money or (potential) happiness. The money is guaranteed - happiness isn’t. Take the sure thing or shoot for the moon (and risk landing on my ass). I’ve shot for the moon before - sometimes it worked out well obviously / others not so much and took me a while of busting my ass to bounce back.

Anyway - rant over. Now back to all the things that really annoy me - like fellow motorist who don’t know how to drive for shit.

 

This is why 2 baths are a must in our house. Just like we each have a bedroom/office for all our junk.

Actually the same reason I want my own garage/pole building. She doesn’t complain about “my mess” when it’s all out of sight and out of the yard - likewise I don’t care about her collection of shoes/blankets and whatever the hell Amazon is bringing today as long as it’s kept in the spare bedroom/closet or out of my way so I’m not tripping over it.

 

Wife: We have twins on the way! We have to save as much money as we can!

Also wife: It's too cold in here; please turn the thermostat up to at least 73 degrees. No, you can't buy store brand groceries. Look at all this great stuff I found on Facebook Marketplace that we "need". We should go shopping. We need a new car. We need accessories for my new car.............

 

Maybe someday once the basement is renovated and the kids are grown and out of the house we can do that.

Hell I almost got taken by a scam the other day. Email comes in looking like Ace Hardware doing a survey. Said I could win a free Milwaukee drill. 25 questions no deep thinking and get to the end. "I won!" only 3 free drills left hurry and pay shipping only. My dumb ass whips out debit card and I got the first 4 numbers in and stopped. "WTF am I doing?" the website had some jacked up name, the original email didn't come from Ace Hardware!
OK so my weakness is for Milwaukee tools, must keep up the guard, nothing is FREE!

 

People calling Lunar Rock "lunarock" or "luna rock" and thinking it's clever.

 

The incessant barrage of surveys and/or requests begging me to rate a product or service I just received. Further, when said survey is more than 5 relevant questions. I might do a brief survey, but I sure as hell am NOT filling out anything that has more questions than a college course final exam.

 

Banks that won't take coins. They say "it needs to be in rolls" (even though a few years ago they wouldn't take rolled coins - they had to be loose!). But what if we don't have enough for a roll? "Take it to our branch which has a change counting machine", which happens to be at least 30 mins away. It's legal tender and they're a bank (in this case, credit union). It's like they don't want our money. I know we're being pushed toward digital currency, but until that happens and we can get change from a store (yes, we still use cash around our household), they should take our coins.

 

I get annoyed when an obnoxious song come on the radio and I change the station and the same annoying song is playing.
