I have a buddy that somehow ends up making THE WORST investment decisions. I can pretty much count on doing the opposite of him and come out well. He spends too much time on r/wallstreetbets

I’ve got 3-4 dudes at work that are to cheap to pay for trash service at their house, every Monday you see them sneaking over to the roll off to dump shit. Then about 30 minutes later the two electricians(if you were giving away free dog turds, they would ask for two extra) are up inside the dumpster looking for “stuff”

 

I know this feeling well.

I was down 10% YTD by June so I transfered it to a stable money market account, I've saved myself another 8% of decline.
Just not sure when the best time to jump back in is.

Bunch of hacks.
We were having all kinds of issues at the end of this wing on the top floor, supposedly the cleaning lady plugged in the vacuum and it sounded like it was going twice the speed……. As well as a fan motor that wasn’t working in a room but worked fine plugged into a different room or wall outlet. Hahaha he claimed he had 210 v at the outlet in the hallway!!!!!! But he never actually told us what he did or what was wrong
We shouldn’t have to touch anything electrical, but we end up just doing it because one is always at the shop smacking his lips and the other is either MIA or sleeping somewhere……..
job security I guess, but I get “talked to” if I’m at the shop 5 minutes past break.

 

The thing is, none of the "losses" are real until you pull out. It's like Schrödinger's cat.

Just ordered some CaliRaised LED cat protection plates for the Taco.

 

Exactly. I’m hvac, but somehow the plumbers have weaseled their way out of doing fire pumps, fire sprinkler inspections, basic plumbing things……
They won’t touch chilled water or domestic hot water lines…….. it’s a fucking copper pipe!!!! How is that not plumbing?!?

 

That's when you make a little anonymous noise to boards and agencies for oversight. Possibly the press as well. People don't like their taxes being wasted on lazy employees, and that's all you wind up with in union jobs. They can't be fired, so they don't change, and the guys who are worth a damn get demoralized by it and either quit, or quit working.

 

Moral of the story: Never pull out.

 

Hahah letters have been written to main HR, nothing happens. It also doesn’t help that out current director has had a “hands off” approach for the past 15 years, sweep it under the rug type thing. He’s gone this coming year, so maybe the new guy will see the shit show for what it’s worth. There’s definitely like 3 bad apples, and thankfully they are on their way out

Ugh, I need to do my annual 401k assessment today. Not looking forward to that. I’m at that point where I can see retirement on the horizon and this year will hurt that dream.

Speaking of “the dream”, a few family members (at Christmas dinner) were quite unhappy with our plans to leave WA in 6-8 years. My MinL was very quiet, which means my wife will start to have second thoughts. Every one acted like I was betraying the family. Pure comedy.

 

Somebody has to stay and keep funding the minimum wage and welfare. You're just a selfish, capitalist bastard.

You mean your 201K? I know how you feel, my 401K equivalent has lost about 25% this year.
