I drove my truck in that state for 6 months before I got around to fixing it. I just left the steering column covers off to access the shifting mechanism.

I didnt get to use my snow chains.

    what about snow socks?

Anyone used these successfully? Not that i'd need em. I've got enough sense to not drive on ice...most of the time. Bummer, lost my pics of playing in the snow in the sequoia.

My truck didn't see snow/salt last year and I'm gonna do everything I can to keep it from salt this year. Would like to take it out in the snow and slide around but rust is dumb and I have a shitbox just for this season.

Snow socks are just good for snow that isn’t deep to get better traction from what I’ve been told. A few 20 lb bags of sand over your wheel wells are just as good IMO if you have decent all season or snow tires. Save the chains for the real hairy stuff when the snow is deep or there’s ice.

Stopped by the dealership today and took a closer look at the new Tundra on the showroom floor.

Definitely less visibility than my existing Tundra with the hood bulge and the window sill now sits up higher making it less comfortable to rest my arm (at least with the manual seating).

What scared me the most was the amount of plumbing that needs to be disconnected to get to the spark plugs so they can be changed. Not sure if the starter still sits under the intake manifold; my guess would be no.

yeah, if I fall into a spare G I might go studded snows for the Tundra. I have 5 spare wheels with no shoes right now. Just hard to find 285/75 Hakkas.

@CodyP sent me a mirror a long time ago to see if I could make something like you posted, but I never got around to it.

I can't remember if it was for access or double. I still have it, but ya know... time.

in my sprucing up mood for the tundra. ive decided all the small switches will be going back to OE green color for illumination due to the spotty lighting of the white LEDS. main HVAC knobs will stay white, cluster will still be white and green.. just add more contrast i guess.

also going to try and add a footwell light like the driver side has for the passenger side.. because that bugs me. IF i have enough time after the large wiring project i do plan on FINALLY wiring up my amp. plan is to mount it under the driver seat. bolted TO the seat. if i add a JBL fuse sub, that will be under the passenger seat powered by this amp which will also be powering the door speakers. when i made the radio harness i had already made the T in the radio harness. so its a plug and play affair once i make the short harness from the amp to said 8 pin plug.

clearly im going mad wanting to play with the truck since its cooped up in my garage. the 98 taco is waiting on 1 more part before its frame swap commenced. my 07 taco is waiting on body mounts still and my 02 frame swap is waiting on weather that will allow me to sandblast and paint its new frame so it can get moving too... i have ALOT of shit going on

Does an '02 use pink (organic) or red (inorganic) coolant? I have a jug of pink PEAK, but the juice in my rad looks mighty red.

Haha. I can’t remember either. Can probably dig through the PM to see. I’m assuming it wasn’t a DC version which is why I sent it.

Big thing is, be careful with any touch-up procedures. Common M.O. is to "under-burn" (undercorrect) and see how it pans out after a year or two, then touch it up later, unless you get custom/waveform lasik, which is more precise of a one-shot deal. If you do get over-corrected, there's no fix for it, halos and starbursts at night, all the stuff you don't want. And stay on those drops, you don't want 'sands of sahara' or any of the other crap that can happen.

I got implants instead (ICL) because I wasn't cool with burning parts of my eyes away that'd never grow back. ICL (implantable collamer lens) is completely reversible, but I almost went laser because the FDA was dragging heels on ICL approval. I'd watched a few friends and coworkers who were in glasses after half dozen years or so, which was another motivator. I wanted reversible stuff, in case something better came along.

Running on 17yrs w/o corrective lenses, until this past year when my near vision started going out and now I need readers. I was avg -6.25 diopters (contacts, -7.25 glasses) in both eyes at time of surgery. Still 20/12 in one eye, 20/15 in the other to this day. I'd do it all over again.

This is from 2006, a little while after I got surgery done: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=190876

A little more info about my decision ICL vs. lasik: https://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard//showpost.php?p=1313705&postcount=8

There are other options to lasik available - reversible, AND more-permanent options, especially if you were in a dire situation like me - even PRK, for those of you with lesser diopters - you just need to find a doctor who is OK with, and honest enough, to offer them. A lot of docs are shady as hell and just want to capitalize on you later, lasik is a guaranteed way to have you coming back in the door later.

PS - STARR is the ICL my doc went with. Doc who did my surgery helped pioneer laser correction at Emory, and was accepted early to do trials with implants. He's the one who suggested ICL over lasik because I was essentially legally blind without glasses/contacts. It may not be for everyone. Costwise, having a custom lens made, it can't compete with the 'lasik farms' out there who'll burn your corneas for under $1,500, sometimes under a thousand.
