I just gave up. Fuck it. After the 2 reps I talked to, it seems like Toyota is just picking straws at who gets paid. At least you’re getting to another level. I was told straight out no and if I keep resubmitting that they would close the case with no email explanation. I will say I do feel like bombarding them with submissions but I have better use of my time. I have more fun arguing with the 3rd gen guys.

At this point what do you have to lose. Submit and hope they draw your number.

I thought about doing that, but I can't even find the Canadian site for submission.

My truck is on the recall list, but I'm hesitant to let them touch it as they are monkeys at our dealerships and I already have LED bulbs that I put in.

Next logical step is to purchase full out LED assemblies.

Got an email that they received my request and then today got another, asking for more info:

Thank you for contacting Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.

We appreciate the opportunity to assist with your reimbursement request.

Toyota understands that situations may arise which do not fall within our normal warranty guidelines, and we are glad you have presented us the opportunity to review your issue. In order to do so, please provide us with the following information:

    1. Detailed and itemized repair order/invoice from the independent repair facility.
    2. Detailed and itemized repair order/invoice from the Toyota dealer showing repairs performed.
    3. A separate detailed statement written by the independent mechanic on their company letterhead stating the symptoms of the vehicle when brought in for repair and the root cause of those symptoms.
    4. Proof-of-Payment e.g. copy of the signed credit card slip, credit card statement or the front and back of a canceled check. If your repair was paid by cash, please provide a letter from the repair shop on their company letterhead verifying the amount paid by cash and signed by the manager.
    5. Proof of Ownership e.g. copy of registration, title or bill of sale.

I attached everything and sent it back. We'll see. Also attached a picture of our Toyota "family" with the Tundra in the driveway with Dad's 4Runner and Tacoma...

They will deny it for #3. I am so pissed right now because they have paid so many people that have done the work themselves and also paid some that don't meet the reimbursement requirements. They are very inconsistent.

I responded: Headlamp recall is the root cause of the symptom as vehicle was originally equipped with the Halogen headlamps that were described in the recall as being a part of the fire hazard. I ordered and replaced with factory Toyota headlamp assemblies.

I may respond tp the email as well. As you can see in my letter, they aren't even worded the same.

So odd to me that their responses to requests seem so random and all over the place.

They will probably deny it because it was self installed and not by a certified mechanic. Apparently Toyota hasn’t seen the work some of their certified mechanics do and see why owners prefer to do it themselves. And they could give 2 shits about what’s in your driveway. They could have looked up my history and seen the 10++ Toyota and Lexus I have owned. But it’s worth a try.

Just going back to my days as a service advisor/manager. Whenever I talked with the area reps about warranty issues and such, they always wanted to know where they got their vehicles serviced, did they do any service work at the dealership and did they own more than one of whatever the brand was.

Yeah, I have heard a thing or two about where do you get it serviced and such when it come to goodwill repairs. I personally service my own vehicles but I have owned a lot of Toyotas and Lexus. Regardless they are just picking straws to see who they pay from what I have seen. And from their response to you it looks like they are trying to get out of it by saying we don’t pay owner made repairs. Good luck though in getting paid.

They are inconsistent, it really depends on who got the case .
I did the install myself , all what I uploaded
    Receipt from paypal for iharness
Receipt from sparks Toyota for the headlight
Letter stating that it was changed prior of recall was issued
A picture of the truck with the new headlights
A picture of the truck registration

I got a check with the amount from sparks and for the iharness no questions nor additional information

no matter what ID/ email you are using , at the end they need to go by vin number and looks like they keep rejecting it since your original case linked to the vin was rejected.
It seems they are all over the place with their responses and nothing is consistent

glad I didn't throw out the yota mail - figured it was another recall notice for the headlights (which obviously fixed with the OE LEDs myself). low and behold it was a reimbursement check - nearly 15 weeks :bananadance:

They won't pay mine without a cause and remedy letter from the dealer service department. I have submitted 4 claims over the last year.
