Installed Christmas goodies on my 23 today.
1. EGR in channel widow visors. (It’s Oregon, rains a lot)
2. Rough Country Defender 2” wheel flares to cover the 1.5 to 2” poke from my 35’s. Ordered the black “bolts” didn’t want the stainless look.

Look good to me unpainted on my magnetic grey metallic color.

Using your links I ordered the insert and DD light bar. Just looking for any tips if ya got any…

Just look at the pics on Rough Country website. They have 3 styles to choose from.
I have had smooth flairs on many of my rigs over the years.Too common/normal, I wanted something different.

 

Has anyone put a Fas-top on a 6.5 bed yet? If so how is the fit?

 

The rivets looks good man. I had color matched flairs with rivets on my 2014 1794…loved the look. Think I may opt for the non-rivets sport ones this time (If I can convince the wife!).

 

You were looking at “softtopper” like the brand or the softtopper on fas-top site? Just making sure I know which one you are talking about.

The Fas-top is secured with Velcro along the side and then 4 tension straps, 1x at each corner. I was a little worried about the Velcro, but it holds just fine. The pivot point is about in the middle of the bed. It doesn’t really stick down. When you fold the whole topper down, it’s tucks away below the bed rails at the front of the truck, taking up very little space. Below is a link to a video that gives you a good idea of how it works.


If you are looking for just a canopy, “softtopper” is a great brand. I had one on my Tacoma for 5 years with no issues. I wanted a tonneau and a canopy so the fas-top was my choice. Very happy so far.

Looks like rough country sport flares has some weird black rubber gasket in between flare and body. If your going for a raw plastic look, sure but others wanted to color paint then realized that weird black piece will be protruding in between the 2x pieces.

wow, been having trucks since 05 and never knew this brand fas-top had a tonneau and canopy built into 1 unit, guess it will have to be on the next truck, i already got a tonneau cover installed but this canopy is pimp for my dog.

 

I had painted ones on my 2014 posted above. There was a black rubber layer between, but it wasn’t noticeable at all. That said, it was a darker color truck.

 

So I absolutely hate when the dealership screws a license plate holder onto the front bumper of a new vehicle so they can get some free advertising. I forgot to tell them not to do that, so I made the best of the situation.

 

Chrome delete complete, added Heritage Grille, and Rave-Off Road marker lights. Very happy with new look, and that the SR5 doesn't have much chrome to delete, lol.

Hello from Tacoma, WA. I am interested in this too as I have the pro grill on order, as well as the pro fender flares and the 3" TRD lift.

 

Truck is gonna be sickness.

 

Took me about 2.5 hrs. It was a little bit of a pain, just tedious. Marker lights were very easy. Hardest part was peeling the sticky tape hahaha.

 

Where did you order the grill and pro fender flares from?

 

I ordered the fender flares and grill from Olympia Toyota online.

Olympia, WA Toyota dealer. On Parts.Toyota there were like 3 dealerships not to far from me that had them listed. Olympia Toyota was the cheapest.

Still waiting for them though. May be backordered. I'm in no rush though.

 

It’s a lot more work than it was to replace the grille on my 21. You have to take the bumper off. Search and you should find some tips/videos other guys have put up.

 

Sold her today. Loved this truck and the awesome community. She went to a very nice family that moved up from a Tacoma. Talk about an awesome Christmas present. Will miss this truck. Thanks everyone for all the support this last year. No idea on next vehicle yet.
