I’m about to hit 200k and I was planning on doing an A/T drain and fill, as well as changing the front and rear diff oils and the transfer case fluid once I get there. I’m searching the manual for fluid specs and it gives different ones for LSD or regular. I’ve seen an “LSD oil only” sticker on the rear diff, but for the front I’m not too sure what it is. Does anyone have info? (02 Limited V8 non-TRD)

Most GL5 gear oils are Ok for top off of a diff. Some may be rated for full refill. Check the bottle and if It only says top off typically you can get a tube of LSD additive at the AP store. Id be real careful with synthetics in a LSD diff IMO. Ive read Toyota gets $62 a quart for their LSD gear oil which is nuts.

75w90 is good for all of them. You can usually get LSD additive already in the oil. You can run that oil in everything whether it has an LSD or not. I run the valvoline full synthetic "squeeze jugs" then you don't need a pump. I get them from Walmart.

Make sure and open the fill plugs first. Some of my drain and fill plugs didn't look great so I got replacements from the dealership. The front is a 10mm hex. They like to strip out so make sure to get the socket in there really well for the best shot at getting it out.

I run the blue bottle valvoline trans fluid when I do drain and fills. Just the dexron fluid (dex/merc or similar) on mine.

Front/T-case can be synthetic or non.

Rear w/LSD I recommend Motul 90pa, others have good experience with Lucas. Both are non-synthetic which is recommended for clutch type LSD (oem or TRD).

    Differentiating the differential differences. Nice.

All the oem front diffs are open. LSD front and rear would be awesome though.

Does anyone know who makes GL-5 SAE 90 LSD Hypoid gear oil? That’s what the manual calls for in the rear. The only SAE 90 I can find are from Motul and Ravenol but they aren’t for LSDs nor are they synthetic.

75w-90 or 85w-90 are fine. The '90' part means it reaches the spec for sae 90 at temp.

The front number means its better when cold vs straight 90.
