I wish I had an answer for you. Typically we don't get told much about QC holds, at least I don't hear much. It could be any variety of reasons unfortunately.

Thanks, I appreciate the info. I specifically needed a 6.5 bed (bikes and kayaks), and got lucky that a local dealer had one just ready to go into build that wasn't sold yet. Blue wasn't my first choice, but it wasn't my last either, and I LOVE the saddle brown interior.

awesome. looks like all the tundra's that were sent to dayton bluff got put on qc hold. oh well, need to talk to my tire/wheel person and let them know it may take longer before you truck arrives. hopefully they dont have an issue holding my tires/wheels longer.

thanks for the update, greatly appreciate it.

forgive my newb question here, but the “temp vin” showed a build date of sept something. Now this is showing a build date of 12/19? Dealer says it hit the VPC on the 19th. Toyota tracker is still saying it’s in allocation. If that’s true I’m going to be pretty angry with the dealer!

also, thank you bobbilly for your help!!

These holds are driving me crazy. My daughter had a recent fender bender putting my wife's sienna in the collision center. Now I really need that truck. Kindly check 5TFJA5DB4PX070418 one more time please. Thank you once more.

So an interesting tidbit on my Tundra's QC hold. On Toyota's vehicle lookup website my VIN works, and brings up my exact vehicle. On their RECALL lookup website, as well as the NHTSA's recall lookup site, a search for my VIN returns a non existent VIN response on both. NHTSA I suppose I could understand getting that response, but not from Toyota given that that the regular vehicle lookup recognizes the VIN properly. Anyone else with a 23 on QC hold getting those same results?

I don’t know if mine is on hold or what at this point, but it’s showing as “allocated” on the Toyota tracker site and does not register (like yours) on the recall site. It’s a white 23 limited 4x4 hybrid crewmax 5.5’

It seems like mine may be delayed because of the winter storm. Was supposed to be delivered last week. Please update 7SVAAABA5PX005506 and thank you. Destination is Buffalo

sorry to keep bugging you specifically on this, but I really appreciate all the insight!

the spec sheet from Toyota shows an order date of 9/22. Would that be inline with a build date if 12/19? Or would it hitting the VPC on 12/19 (according to the dealer) make sense? Just trying to make sure dates are lining up. If the truck isn’t delivered before year end I need to come up with another solution for tax purposes

Does the truck's location in transit affect how long it will stay in QC hold? My truck should have been at the final railyard before it was put in QC hold. I really can't wait 60 days for my truck since I sold my previous truck and I need the new one for a job.

Once again, thanks for taking the time to do this for the forum members.

A little history on what took so long for our Lexus to be delivered. Our sales rep told us the union at the rail yard can only process so many vehicles in a day. I didn't bug him but I did check in weekly about the status.

Our vehicle arrived at the rail yard here locally on November 28th. I contacted our sales rep on December 22nd and he told me his GM was fuming, went to the rail yard, and touched 54 vehicles. The GM called Lexus to get them all released, and ours was one of three for priority release. Well, we picked up our car the next day, on the 23rd. I'm unsure as to what the "real" hold-up was, but we finally have the vehicle.

I understand there are other reasons for delays now such as the storms impacting the US and Canada and the chip shortage, and QC may also be a reason. Over on the Lexus forum, these reasons are also what is being discussed.

    Cheers!
